Desiree nodded.

"I had, admittedly, hoped that his death would allow me to actually, you know, breathe." She admitted. "But no. He had to go and ruin that for me too." There was some exasperation to her voice, and it was extremely easy to tell.

"And I know that you won't be leaving. I truly appreciate it, too. However, I'm still going to thank you, because you don't have to put yourself out like that." She continued.

"No one wants to be in such a position. SAdly, some of us just have no choice."

Desiree nodded.

"I know." She said simply.

"Thank you. So so much." She added. There was sincerity to her voice, and a calmness too. She meant those words, but the question was what she was thanking him for. It could be a few things, after all.

"What for?" Jaden asked, his tone and face inquisitive. He was always happy to help, but wasn't sure what the expected reaction was at the moment. So, he had to ask.

"... For caring. You were worried when I was gone, you're worried about what will happen now, and just... you worried, you care. I know I don't say it too terribly much, but thank you." was Desirees response.

Desiree nodded. She knew what he said was true, and she hadn't been considering taking off for a bit. She just hadn't properly had a chance to let out what sshe knew she was feeling because of it, and needed too.

"I know."[b] She assured him.

[b]"I just... I do know that. However, don't be surprised if I'm looking over my shoulder more than usual." She continued.

"I know he could very well have said that just to get a reaction out of me. However, I also know that he was a worm and could very well have something set up to happen upon his death."] She added/

"And that's why it scare me. I know how he was."

Desiree nodded, not sure what to say for the moment, entirely.

"At least there is that." She commented, agreeing with him. That wasn't something that she could deny anyway.

"Deryck's last words were a promise.... of trouble." She then said, not even a minute later.

"He promised that I'd get what's coming to me before throwing that crystal dagger at me." There was something to her voice, something he likely didn't expet. It wasn't quite acceptance, but cloe.

She'd deal with it when it came, but she was scared. It wouldn't be hard to guess, Desiree was scared of whatever was to come.

"Full grand. Gotcha." Desiree confirmed with a nod.

"Also, these sounds just as good as before. I don't think I can pick up on more clarity with how these Are now." She added with a light laugh. "But thank you. I'll let you know about the charging stand later, once I kno."

'Just... thank you, Leo." Desiree added, her sincerity and gratitude More than a little evident.

"Don't let me keep you here longer than you have time for, though." She added after a moment.

"We'll have to set up a dinner date, sit and properly catch up." She then said before sighing.

"But yeah, I won't keep you. If you wish to hang out for a bit, you're free to, or you can leave. Don't feel you have to hang around for any reason other than you want to."

"Your slight tendencies for hoarding come in handy sometimes." Desiree commented with a light chuckle.

"Not often, but they do." She added.

"And... Thank you." said as she accepted the items. She looked them over, wanting to see how things were, running her hands over the headset a few times to get a feel for it all. After a few minutes, she slid them on her head, internally marvelling at how Leo always seemed to make them feel better, even though she always thought they were comfy already.

"Power in the same place?" She asked, having not actually looked for the buttons locations before. It hadn't occurred to her.

Leo just nodded in response, and Desiree found the button before powering them on.

"Will the wireless charge stand for the toast set work with these, you think?" She asked about thirty seconds later, once the minor feedback and such was done.

"I know." Desiree said, replying to Jaden as she made her way over to Leo. She motioned with her hands for him to get to his feet for a moment, to which he did. Once he was up, she wrapped her arms around him, and didn't let go for about thirty seconds.

"Thank you, Leo." She said.

"However, I will figure out a way to properly repay you for all this tech support over the years." She added. "Once I can figure out how to do something you will NOT refuse." As she spoke, she'd stepped away from him, and taken a seat next to Jaden on the couch.

"Anyway, speaking of tech.... sorry about that... I know they were probably absolutely destroyed."

The hair dryer hadn't even crossed Desirees mind, and Jaden could see that.

"Eh-heh... Thanks." She said. "That didn't even cross my mind. And yeah, I know it works well. I bought you this one as a surprise gift after your good one died." She added as she found some clean undergarments and set the towel aside to put them on.

"And... it's ok. I have access to my mana again and use that too, if I really needed to." She added as she worked.

"Plus. If he sees me with wet hair... what's the problem with that? Jaden, I'm not you." Was the last thing she said for the moment before looking for a clean pair of jeans.

She was completely silent as Jaden said all he did, before just nodding.

"Yeah... Okay." She said.

"I... I'm going to get some clothing then." She added before sighing and heading out of the room.Especially with Leo coming over soon, she knew she had to be clothed. Even if she didn't want to leave right then, as she knew that her and Jaden did probably need to talk.

She was terrified about what he'd said at the end, about getting what's coming to her. She didn't know if she could actually voice it, but she knew she had to try. Leaving Jaden hanging like that wouldn't be good, especially if her brother had something set up to come after her after his death. He was crafty enough that she would not be surprised, at all, if that was actually what the case was.

So she had to tell him.

She made her way to the bedroom, not bothering to check if Jaden was following, and started to find something to wear.

Desiree just smiled softly.

"Yeah... The authorities won't be coming to look for me." She assured him.

"The press on the other hand..." She started. "I don't want your reputation soiled from this, either." She continued, pausing a moment. She knew what she was about to say next would not be something he'd want to hear, but also something that he would hate if she didn't say anyway.

If only just because of the fact that he knew her, and it would not be long before he realised this was going through her head.

"Th last thing we need, is your reputation ruined becaue of this. Who would pay our bills?" She asked, with a light almost hesitant chuckle.

Desiree stepped out of the shower. When she noticed Jaden, just sighed, and waved. She looked tired, and a bit beaten down, but ... happy. Which made sense. The past few days had definitely sucked, and that was putting it far too lightly.

"Hey." She greeted.

"Miss me?" She asked, wanting to keep this a bit light hearted. She had no idea how receptive he'd be though, and all she could do was hope that he would be receptive Even just a little.

His silence said loads, before he signed anything.

Are you all right? He asked, his first thought being concern over anything. Desiree didn't respond for a moment, before sighing.

"I.... will be." She told him honestly.

Desiree was silent before sighing, knowing she'd need to do this. She just hoped it went all right and she didn't have too many problems.

When her friend arrived, she was far too grateful, and she knew it. However, Avery knew ASL and was extremely familiar with it. Desiree had no idea why or how she was there but really didn't care. At all.

She was held for a week, but knew it was only because of Averie helping she was out that quick. Sadly, Desiree had not been granted one thing: the ability to let Jaden know what was going on. Granted, that wasn't too hard to believe, as she was deaf and there really wasn't anything that could entirely be done for that.

So she hadn't been able to let him know.

After she was finally freed, she expected there would be a very worried Jaden, along with basically everyone else. She made her way to an alley, and just used her mana to get home.

She appeared in the den and just sighed before heading to make her way to the batrhoom. She felt like sh desperately needed a shower.

Desiree was silent for a few seconds, smiling softly.

"Thank you." She said.

"I'll return this when I can." She added before looking back out to the road. "I admit, I don't want to be here, I want to go home, but... I also don't want anything to happen illegally, or to damage mine or Jaden's repuation." She told him

That really couldn't be faulted. The sheer fact that she was back in Winnipeg overall was a surprise. He knew what she'd gone through as a child, after all. Believing that she didn't want to be back in the city it happened in was very easy to believe. However... there she was.

Desiree was silent for a few seconds before shaking her head.

"You've nothing to be sorry for." She said.

"And... and I will be all right. I promise." She assured him. He could hear her sincerity too. This wasn't a case of her just saying it to appease him. She honestly believed what she said.

"I'll... I'll Snap you once I know what is going on. All right?"
