Desire paused.

"I... never noticed that there were no barriers around this office." She admitted, looking around.

"... huh. I'm going to have to fix that." She admitted before shaking her head.

"Anyhow, are you going to be all right?" She asked, her voice concerned as she made her way over and took a seat next to him.

"If it would help... go up to the balcony that the desk is attached to" She motioned to the desk in question, and the clear glass doors behind it.

"Go take a look at the scene. We're ... I think 25? Stories up."

When he finally accepted her hand, they were enveloped in a small twister, as was pretty normal for her mana. The next thing that he knew, they were in a very opulent office area, near a large conference table. There as plenty on the walls around, and behind, them as well.

"That gem in the middle there." She started, motioning toward it.

"Please put some of your mana in there. That way you can get in and out at will, here." She added with a soft smile.

"... Unless you'dr ather not."

Desiree paled slightly.

"I... I hadn't expected you to be able to idenitfy it..." She admitted before holding out her hand.

"You know, they're actually going to be putting out a line that has mana suppression built into the fabric." She commented.

"Rather amazing, I think. As far as I know, no one else does that." She added.

"Anyhow, shall we?" She asked, not really touching on anything regarding the brand, or how he could identify it.

"Don't worry." Desiree said as she reached the den, stepping into the room.

"You will." She added before sighing, heavily.

"You good to go?" She asked. "Our reservation is for eight, but some extra time where we're going might actually be a good idea." She couldn't decide what to make of how Jaden was reacting, and she totally couldn't hope to fathom a guess as to how he would take it.

Surely he noticed the branding on the clothing.

Surely that was part of the questioning she knew was coming.

... and surely he'd have some sort of reaction or thoughts that may or may not be loud regarding her family, and what the hell has happened.

"Thank you." Desiree said with a soft smile.

"And above your pay grade, maybe." She added with a light laugh. When he looked at her quizzically, she just hooked some hair behind her ear, revealing the more subtle, the smaller, hearing aids that she had. Leo had crafted these as well, and they fit perfectly under her hair. She didn't have much in terms of functions on them, the headset was most certainly better in that regard, but these could help her hear, and connect to her phone. That was all she was worried about.

"Anyway, I'm going to finish with my hair, and then we can head out." She said simply.

"I won't be long. Go take a seat, I'll see you in a few." She added with a smile.

Jaden didn't receive a response to his comment, and when he went back to the bedroom, he found Desiree getting into a beautiful off the shoulder evening gown, in as was not surprising, a soft pink hue.. Her headset was on the charging dock.

"You mind not watching me get dressed?" She asked, her back to him as she started to shimmy into the dress.

"Aside from ... actually, hold on." She then said before he had a chance to say anything else. She got into the dress before approaching him and turning her back top him. She lifted her hair and chuckled.

"Would you be so kind as to get the zipper for me?" She asked, wondering if he'd recognise the brand for both the dress, and the suit.

"Oh, right." Desiree started as she paused what she was doing and looking over to him.

"There's a new hat for you as well. I think I left that one on the kitchen table though." She added.

"It's nothing too special, just... new, lacking the fraying that your current has, and has some rather gorgeous decorative embroidery." She pauseda moment before shrugging.

"Where we're going, you're going to need it though. They won't let you in with your current hat." Once she said her piece, she returned to what she was doing - her makeup.

"Your clothing is handing on the door of the bathroom." Desiree told him.

"And your shoes are on the counter." She added before pausing a moment.

"It's... well, that's what you're wearing. I had a shower before I went out to retrieve the apparel, so... I'll just start getting ready."

"I'll be in the bedroom. When you have your inevitable questions, you can wait until our pitstop before dinner." As she spoke, she got to her feet.

"Love you." With that, she headed off to the bedroom.

"What? No!" Desiree exclaimed with a laugh.

"No no. Maybe later, and on that note, I have another person interested in a potential custom one for them. For a pretty penny." She continued.

"If you and him are at all interested." She added before shaking her head.

"Anyway, we have a dinner reservation." She told him. "It's not for a couple of hours, but if you want to get ready and head out now we can. I can rearrange the night, if you'd prefer, as it might be better to make the stop I'm planning first, before dinner. UInless you want a bombshell dropped on you during the meal? Honestly, I have no idea." He could hear how she was a bit nervous about this, but the question was whether or not it was something good... or bad... that she had to say. Was she setting him up for something and something regarding her brother was involved? Was this forced?

.... Was this Desiree a shifter? She wasn't normally this hesitant or nervous, so it really did stand out.

"...." Desiree was silent, not entirely sure what she was supposed to say here. She knew taht he deserved to know what had happened, but she didn't know how to ... well, tell him.

"Well, I will say this much. We have plans tonight." Desiree told him honestly. "And no. You can't weasel out of this."

"as much as you might want to try. Sorry, but this one is sticking." She shrugged as she set her phone aside.

"... How'd it go?" She asked, her voice curious. "Everything good now?"

"Let's just walk." Desiree suggested.

"I am entirely for that." She added with a light chuckle.

A couple of days later, Desiree returned home from an outing elsewhere. She appeared in the suite, and sighed lightly as she looked at what she had.

"Oh... I hope he takes this well." She said quietly before making her way to the bathroom and hanging what she returned with, or at least part of what she had, on the hooks on the back of the door in there, along with a box near the door, but not in the way.

"... I really hope this goes well." She releated with a sigh before leaving the room and taking what elseshe had to the bedroom. She made sure it was save, before heading to the den to wait.

Jaden had called her earlier, saying he'd be home that day, and she'd put in a reservation for dinner for them for a couple of hours after he got home, so while it wouldn't be an issue if he didn't get back til tomorrow (ignoring the concern element) she still hoped he would be back relatively soon.

"Waffles?" Desiree asked with a smirk.

"I'm completely game." She adde.d "I love me some waffles."

"Now, Where and how?" She asked, her voice curious.

"As in who will be taking us there. If me, I'll definitely need to know where."

Desiree was silent for a moment before chuckling.

"I more meant where." She commented.

"I haven't been here in years." She continued. "And I know you travel for both business and pleasure far more than I do. So I was wondering if you knew anywhere in the area for a good bite to eat." She added.

[b]"If only just because of the fact that it would be easier. I mean, we could probably ask someone here, but... I don't really want to, if I'm being honest.

"Thanks for the heads up." Desiree said before doing the same, touching the gem. As she did so, Hal was able to see, quite literally, a flash of the very light bluegrey from her wind mana being drained.

"Anyhow, you mentioned food." She commented.

"I'm entirely for it." She paused a moment, thinking about the idea for food.

"Do you have any preferences?" She asked.
