Having a pet can be very rewarding, but it has its challenges as well, regardless of the species.

First you'll need to consider if you have the resources to have one. In no particular order of importance: space, time, financial stability, access to veterinary care, research, and mental stability, to name a few. I'll elaborate in a spoiler below:

-Space- Luckily, cats don't require much space. However, you'll want to make sure that your living space is allowed to house cats before having one. That should go without saying, but too many people illegally own pets, and it's not fair to the pet in the end, because they suffer the consequences if they're found out.

-Time- Generally speaking, cats don't require too much of your time, but some can be more demanding than others for resources. Some can be aloof and not want much attention, while others want to be your shadow. Feeding schedules are easily manageable, as are getting a routine down for grooming and litter box changing. For litter boxes, I will say a good rule of thumb if you have multiple cats one day is to add 1 more box than you have cats (so for example, 2 cats require 3 litter boxes). I know you'll probably only start with one, but just FYI for future. As for grooming, in general, if you have a long-haired cat, you'll want to brush it often to avoid matting in the fur. Otherwise, unless they have a knack for getting dirty, they don't require much for bathing. You may want to consider time for training, if necessary, against unwanted behaviors, such as clawing your furniture. There are easy solutions for these behaviors, but that can be saved for another post.

-Financial stability- No, you don't need to be a billionaire to have a cat, obviously, but they can come with their own health issues, and vet visits usually aren't cheap. Therefore, I'd suggest always having some money saved in case of emergencies. There are options for insurance out there for vet visits too, so perhaps look into that.

-Access to veterinary care- Do you have easy access to a vet in case you need? It's also a good idea to get a veterinary checkup routinely, depending on what your vet recommends. Not gonna lie, a lot of pets hate traveling for any reason, but sometimes it's necessary to make sure they're healthy, so make sure you can travel to a vet if needed.

-Research- Consider researching cats' needs before adopting. Different breeds may need different things. While you don't need to be an expert before adopting, it'll certainly help you in the long run to ensure a happy life for you both. <3

-Mental stability- Are you in a good place, mentally, to care for another animal? I'm not asking if you personally are in a good place, but it's a general question to ponder. If you're struggling to care for yourself in any capacity, I'd caution against caring for an animal until you can. An animal is more than just a companion, it's a life dependent on your care too.

Sorry if that was a bit wordy, but I hope that helps some. What helps me mentally prepare for a new pet kinda is the physical aspect too--making sure my space is safe for them, and making sure I have the resources to care for them. And absolutely, having my pets has changed my life for the better. Mooney is my only fur baby for now, and she's 7 years old. I lost my boy Dasher last year as he was a senior kitty at 11 years old, and my girl Olive a couple years ago as she was reaching her life expectancy of 5 years old. I think that's the worst part of having pets, is saying goodbye, but as the saying goes, time heals all wounds. I'm happy to have had my babies that I sent over the Rainbow Bridge, even though I miss them every day. I'm hoping to adopt another cat soonish, but first I need to prepare my space before I can have another.

@goth: You're welcome! Sometimes it takes a bit of digging that way, but it's helpful.

And that would be awesome to have meme-based items. xD I'm not sure which one I'd use if given the opportunity to make it into an item...

@goth: That makes sense about the website and the organization of it all. I understand feeling self-conscious about taking too much time for your character, or just not doing something right in general. My guy listens to lots of DND podcasts, and I think he's watched/listened to that one before too. He mostly listens to his podcasts on Spotify, and sometimes I'll catch pieces here and there. Not sure if you're interested in any female-led podcasts, but Dames & Dragons is a good one. Not Another D&D Podcast is a mixed gender one, but it's one that you might check out too if you're looking for podcasts. Both of them have their funny moments, so they're not all super serious or anything.

@goth: I found the Finding Neverland previews for you, if you were still looking. I almost said I found Neverland for you lol. Any time I have trouble finding previews in the threads you mentioned, I go hunting in the News & Updates forums for the announcements associated with the items I'm looking for. :3

If we're talking about arm poses, my favorite would probably have to be the Summer Deer event item arms/jacket thing combo, or the Soulcaster orb item pose. Shown respectively below. The Summer Deer hand up next to the face looks aaaaalmost like that chef meme sprinkling his salt over his food. xD

@goth: Right? I wouldn't know the first thing how to play DND on discord lol. I'm open to it, but not sure how it's done with the dice rolls and everything. I'd have to have a very forgiving group to be confident enough to try. xD

@Jolly: My cat is pretty similar to yours. She was a rescue, and we don't know her history before she ended up in a shelter. She's great with people, but never cared for our other cat when he was around. We want to get another cat soonish, but we need to do some cleaning up a bit and make sure we have time set aside to ensure an easy transition for all involved. We want to get a rescue kitty again, preferably like a black one or one harder to adopt but still good with kids and other cats. But yeah, here's to hoping whenever we get a dog, it won't be too much of an adjustment for our son.

@blue: Those experiences sound bizarre. I wasn't aware asking your marital status was illegal, but maybe it depends on where you live. We only ask for tax filing purposes. I'd be pretty turned off by group interviews regardless of job title, so I can see why it made you uneasy. Some people just know how to interview well, but then once they get in, they turn out to be complete psychos or monsters. Based on my own experiences, anyway.

@Jolly: Right?? I wish I could have a dog, but I have neither the time nor space for one right now. Plus, my son is terrified of them, and I really don't know where he gets it from. As far as I know, he hasn't had a traumatic experience with any dog. Hoping I can teach him that not all dogs are scary.

Aaaah, yes that song by G-Dragon gives me happy feels. <3 Kinda forgot it existed until you mentioned it lol. Funny how that happens--forgetting they exist until they reappear somehow. Also I love the Eragon series as well. <333 I listened to it on audiobook once, but I can't remember if I finished the series in audiobook. ^^; I definitely finished reading it though. It's been a minute since I've felt motivated to read anything, but I'm partway through Howl's Moving Castle, and will eventually read 1984 because I want to see what the fuss is about as I was never required to read that one in school.

ALSO I'd love to get into DND more, but feeling a little discouraged. The first time I tried, we got together with a kinda large group (probably like 8 players) and we spent most of the time building my first and only character, which I felt so bad for taking up all their time that I think they didn't want to play again after that. The second time I had a blast because it was a smaller group, but after that, we never got to meet up again. I don't know of any groups willing to take on newbies.

To answer OP's question though, yes, I do revert back to things that made me happy growing up, such as listening to old music or rewatching favorite series and movies. I'm also watching a lot of anime lately, both new and older series. Plus rewatching anime I've seen before.

@Jolly: You're right, there's always new behaviors with people. xD New excuses too. Like the other day, one of the CNAs said she couldn't come into work last minute because she had to "feed her horses". Then a few days after that, one of her horses got out??? Like bro, don't have animals like that if you can't keep track of them responsibly!

@PrincessBean: You're welcome! Hope you enjoy it here. :)

@Jolly: It's a reasonable question to ask why someone left their previous job, but regardless of circumstance, I feel like there are polite ways of putting it without getting into too much detail lol. I've seen all kinds of people walk through our doors. Even people you never thought would do certain things after you get to know them, they'll do it, so hard to trust people, and now also hard to be surprised by anything anymore. People are so strange.

@PrincessBean: Welcome to Voltra! Do you have any questions so far?
Posted in Awkward interviews Posted 9 months ago
@Jolly: Yeah, another big red flag is when they start talking about coworkers "being after them" or just having problems at their previous jobs in general. I understand, sometimes workplaces are really that toxic, but still not a great idea to disclose that in an interview. Maybe after you're hired, y'know? The weed guy sounds hilarious though. xD We've had people try to lie to us about their drug tests, but the cups don't lie. It's amazing how many people don't know that THC stays in your system for so long. Personally, I don't care what you do on your own time, but don't waste mine with your ignorance on how your poison of choice works.

@Totalanimefan: In addition to training the dog, I'd highly recommend giving him daily exercise routines. In particular, that breed will have high energy and will use that energy to herd or chase other animals and people, and one way to prevent that is to regularly exercise them in ways that will use their breed's skills. There are lots of videos for training and exercise ideas to do with your aussie. I understand the situation was upsetting for everyone, but remember that it's not the dog's fault for doing what comes natural to them, especially if they weren't trained to do otherwise. It'll take a lot of training to be sure, but the results will be worth it. You're lucky that the dog is still young, as an older dog would be much more difficult to learn new behaviors.
