Happy New Year!

I hope 2020 is a great year for you.

@ephenay: I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't played with people in years - I had some bad experiences with not getting along with people and decided I'd rather focus on other activities.

Did you have a favorite genre of music to play?
Posted in New Year Posted 4 years ago
@Wildfire: Exactly what you said. I think that as people get older, they come to realize these things more and more clearly, as long as they aren't trying to run away from the truth of how stuff works.

Today I have to go make a deposit at my bank, and then I want to try to make some miniature succulents for a tiny terrarium I've been thinking about making for a while, but haven't actually done much with. I couldn't remember where I put the clay I wanted to use until I found it last night. I really want to finally make some display rooms for my dolls this year, and good props to make them seem homey and real are where I've decided to start

@Ruby: I love Portland, and I understand wanting to move back. I hope you get a chance in the near future.

@ephenay: I started out playing violin, but I moved to viola in...9th or 10th grade, I think? I kept playing in orchestra through my first year of college, but then I played in a couple bands/ensembles with friends. I still have my violin and viola, but haven't played recently.

@Tsundererra: I hear you on the anxiety. I've been working to consciously spend time thinking about the world in ways that make me feel less anxious, and focusing on now rather than the past or future is a big part of it.

Cleaning almost always helps me feel better and more inspired to do create work. I hope you find time to do some cleaning, too

@ephenay: Wow, that's even more coincidental, but cool!

@Ruby: I grew up in Tacoma, but I moved to Portland as an adult, and lived there for several years. I'm back in Tacoma for now, but I really want to go back to Portland since most of my friends are there.

Which convention did you go to?

I've mostly been finally watching cartoons I'd been saying I'd watch for years, so that's not so much a resolution for the new year as much as tying up loose ends. I haven't been as productive on getting ready for vending at festivals later in the spring, but I have been cleaning and organizing stuff that I'd been avoiding.

@Tsundererra: Living in the moment is a good way to do things. It's easy to get caught up in the past or future.

@ephenay: I'm living in Tacoma, myself, right now. I don't normally see people online from the same area. Your experience for field trips growing up is super familiar - my classes also went to NW Trek, etc.

I played viola in orchestra, but we mostly participated in local events. I know I went to Leavenworth in middle school, but I can't remember if it was for a band and orchestra performance or not. It's too long ago.

I read back a page, and want to second the recommendation to visit Leavenworth around Christmas. I used to go with my grandma when I was a kid, and it has a very cute downtown that's decorated for the season. I've never been during other times of the year, even though it's not that far away, but it's really pretty and snowy in winter.

Candy canes sure are nice to have

Hello, star!

@Totalanimefan: I just prefer rain most of the time, since it means it's warmer, and people are garbage at driving in snow here. I like the dry fluffy snow, but we rarely get that kind, so I'd rather get rain
Posted in Hangout with a Voltra Elf Posted 4 years ago
@Totalanimefan: there are so many good shows, and the internet makes it easy to watch them

I'm hoping that even though it's supposed to snow tomorrow and this week, it just rains instead

@Totalanimefan: I actually decided to watch Gargoyles first, to take a break from the avatar story. I know people say Korra isn't as good, but I think it's still probably worth watching

Now, I kind of feel like rewatching the Batman and Justice League animated shows

@Totalanimefan: I'm doing okay - nearly finished watching Avatar, and looking forward to starting Korra. Now I wont be the only person among my friends who hasn't seen them.
