@ephenay: I was surprised the snow lasted so long. Usually it melts the next day

I can't believe this event is nearly over, either

@ephenay: My viola instructor was one of the people who organized the Max Aronoff Institute summer camp at Bastyr. I only went for one summer, since I think I didn't start studying with her until my junior year of high school.

My favorite year at tys was when we played Resphghi and debuted a piece by a contemporary composer. It was nice to get a chance to play with a group like that.

@ephenay: Yes, I was in the youth symphony all through high school. I hated auditioning, because I got so nervous, but I did like a lot of what we played, especially when I got into the top level.

Were you ever in the TYS, or other local groups?

@ephenay: I mostly like to play impressionistic and modern composers, improvisational jazz and noise music, and some folk. I had a professor who lead the Klezmer group at my college, and she taught us lots of old techniques and styles, so that's the only folk genre I had any formal training in, but I've played music from my own heritage and others.

I'll listen to many other kinds of music, though.

Have you done anything new or fun this year?

@Tsundererra: It's only 6:50pm now, so I have plenty of time. I looked up some fairy garden websites, and one of them linked back to one of my favorite plant miniaturists who makes tiny succulents. I'd forgotten all about her, but sometimes it's nice to see someone's results when you're making something for the first time.

I'm cooking some dinner, and I'll prepare my clay (it's an airdry clay similar to what they call cold porcelain) after that
@kegs: lol, that's exactly the situation I thought might happen to me. I'm already awkward on the phone if it's a personal call, but I didn't mind answering at work since I knew what to say.

@Tsundererra: Not yet. I just got back from my long walk to and from the atm, and the cat is laying right next to me, so I'm gonna wait a bit until I feel energetic again

It snowed today for about a minute, then stopped. A few hours later, it's sort of hailing but the hail is tiny and I don't know how long it will last.

Its more interesting than rain, so that's fun.

@Tsundererra: Yeah, work was a big part of it, and there wasn't really room for me to say 'no' even when I wanted to.

I like to chat with friends or read or watch youtube to unwind

@Tsundererra: If you're tired, then it's best to do what will restore your mental, emotional, and physical health rather than pushing yourself.

I'm pretty sure that how I got so ill for so long was pushing too much, because I thought that's what I needed to do. I still struggle with feeling guilty over not doing enough, even though a lot of times I physically can't do more
I used to work retail, and I got so used to answering the phone for that business that I was in constant fear I'd answer my own phone the same way. I didn't, but I've said so many embarrassing awkward things anyway
