i remember i went to a "beginner's" workshop one year and had my ass handed to me, i was so embarrassed i never went again

like they record the dances at the end and i was sooo embarrassed that i was fucking it up for everyone

did u do dance?? i can imagine the dance culture being kind of intense in your region tho lol

@Hachi: For real! im planning to make my 2021 resolution to dedicate myself
more to studying art. Not just drawing to draw, but to really study, study my own work as well
and overall work on improving myself and my art.

I'm so excited to incorporate the things i learn into my work. I have so many ideas.

For real! my sister luckily would love to help me, so i'll have a helper at least when the time comes
to make merch, and prints. I mostly cannot wait to design my business cards as i have a vague idea what to do.

i always used it with my pink pastry witch avatar.

also they made a few of my designs into items, so i'm obviously biased towards those, but one of them was a faerie dress and they put a gradient in it and i bet it was a real pain to do recolors for, now that i think about it

btw re: bgs - i watched a yt video that had a Quick Tip for easy/lazy bgs --
if you take the figure you draw, you basically resize/rotate and blur the shit out of it and then maybe do some adjusting for colors/brightness/etc ! and reuse the whole thing as the bg haha

@xvz: part of me feels like i've barely worked hard and now i feel ready enough
to just dive into the books of hard work lol.

though i do art practically...everyday.
sometimes i'll take a day or 2 to just rest but usually every single day i work on art.
mostly i expand working on one piece over the course of a few days that way
i don't put strain on my wrist or body and won't in a sense time crunch for like 8 hours on one thing.

@moodyb: i think it's easy to discount your own hard work - do you ever go back to reflect on your progress?? i have a tendency to do that, where i'm like noo why is my art so bad -- but then i'll look back at my art from before and see the improvement and feel a lot more motivated! i think it helped too that my friend pointed this out to me, it was a good reminder that depression goggles make it harder to assess ur own progress

that's honestly so impressive! it sounds like it's a good sustainable pace for u too which is so great :0

@xvz: Yeah i normally go back and see my old work.
Though there is some stuff that hasn't improved too much so then i focus on improving that part of my art.
for example...shading. i never shade the clothes in my work so then my work sometimes feel..."meh"
so that is something i need to work on.

Yeah i am hoping so.
Hm..i'm not sure as there is a lot to work on. But breaking down hands into better shapes for sure
because hands really stop me from finishing art a lot of times.
and i feel doing different poses with hands could really make my art look...a lot better.
After that will probably be coloring. so shading of clothes, painting hair/skin, etc.
