@sunny: but ernya and sites that allowed for that custom dying of items had a limited and well-established palette, right? They would have to!

@Aisukohi: what sites are you referring to? (I'm curious - but not looking to bash any sites)
It was the spell system on ERnya. Idk when it was added.
@Wildfire: yeah they did, there were about 30 colours in the palette.
I can't imagine how a dying system could possibly work otherwise! What a lot of work - for everything, all the time! Ouch!
*bangs head on deska few times* Why did i pick watercolor brush. i can't water color. whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy did i do this to myself.
Currently recovering from large amounts of PTSD. I'll post when I can, please ping for replies. Things are very difficult for me right now.

I feel like some sites used gradient maps maybe?? I would if I ran an avi site.
You want everything live, you want things you can touch."
Recolor.me has an unlimited dying system. It's pretty versatile.
currently: new novel who dis?

beanie doll! thank u cookie
@sunny: oh yeah - that rings a bell somehow (although I'm not sure why; I think at one point I made an account on ernya but didn't stick around very long).

I... kind of hate Recolor.me a lot, but the dye system is good.

Yeah, Voltra does! I think it's a good way to reduce workload, though I'm not sure since I don't design for Voltra.

I quit Voltra. Read my profile.
So you guys like being able to customize the items.
And yes, of course the people and culture are important, and it's just not an avi site if you can't play with your avi and items...
Drama is a no-no (of course it is!).

The spell system on Ernya was fantastic for customization. The problem was, they needed to have the spells available at all times, not just be at the mercy of those who had extras to sell.
And I'm not comfortable disclosing the names of sites whose owners/staff were terrible.

Goodbye, Voltra.

starlight i got the impression that voltra uses gradient maps! i think qtea posted an item guide at one point and i remember reading thru it :0

i loved spells on ernya, but the workload to create a new spell each month was huge. i think they did their colors by hand and especially certain items has custom color gradients per spell color (rainbow LOL)

personally i would find a dye system to be kind of overwhelming ... i understand why ppl would want it though!
i think for me it's just wayy too many options i would never get anywhere .... i prefer having constraints in order to put avis together otherwise the options are endless and i will get overwhelmed!
@Aisukohi: Of course that's fine! Again, I'm just curious - not looking to bash other sites by any means. Not my style. But I do tend to be curious ;)

Having you as a Voltie would be awesome.
