it was like every club ... i wanted to join a dance club but every single one u had to audition for and half of the ppl had been dancing their whole lives / went to competitions ... felt like nothing was beginner friendly there

I joined a lot of avatar sites, but the ones I was active on for any amount of time were Gaia(found from a friend on RuneScape), Solia(for a bit before I found Ernya), Ernya, Roliana(for a bit), Trisphee, MyRufflesRPGWorld(it was a less active site with monkey avatars), Terrasus(didn't end well from what I remember), KofK, Syndrone, Crysandrea, and Sapherna

I thought there was something else going on with ernya just before it closed too, but I can't remember what it was. The way its closing was handled was quite poor though, imo.

i normally keep the same avatar for 2-5 months as i am not particularly active.

as i never had drawn plants and i usually look at my feed to see the least used theme/color.

oh i'm so sorry to hear abt ernya :-( that's so jarring - i'd be super sad to see it a community close so suddenly, there's no like emotional prep or closure ...

i think hearing about that is a good reminder for me to donate to voltra when i can ... !
when i was younger on avi sites i didn't really have income i could spend but now that i do i'd want to do what i can for spaces i care about!

For favorite things:
-It was always nice when an avatar site had a dream avi maker
-Marketplaces on bigger avi sites are nice
-I liked Ernya events where you could find currency under avatars when lurking
-Basic stuff like making avis, posting, and events are always fun of course
-I liked the bug hunting on Crysandrea and Sapherna
-The dye system on Terrasus and Syndrone was great

Favorite thing about avatar sites is the quality of the avatars (variety of items, layering, etc.) and the people I get to meet on them.

Least favorite things are monotony (i.e., same schematics for events, lack of release of features/items) and lack of discipline on userbase, regardless of title. I've heard horror stories of some people getting away with things that shouldn't be, and I steered clear away from those environments.

@0v7: unmoderated sites are just chaos and drama waiting to happen.

@vixen: & @sunny: LOL. Oh, I feel ya on that one! There's only so much a person -or team- can think through that though when they're trying to put a system like that together. It's probably why some of the layering gets so weird sometimes.
