Yup. Or, like what often happens, it means one thing in one culture and pretty much the opposite in another culture... and this depends largely on the history between the cultures - who battled who, who won, etc.
This is exactlyHistory is just fascinating when you go digging through it. Such a shame the American education system makes it sound lame and boring.

@Another Movie Addict: Although I do remember having a good history teacher once or twice in my life, I'd have to agree with you - there's so much more to history than just names and dates, which is what most classes seem to be about.
