"....." the individual was still silent, but then growled.

"Hurts." Deryck said.

"Stings." he told her.

"But whatever." he went on.

"You." he then said further, anger in his tone.

"Why? Why do you care?" he asked her.

About 5 minutes later, Desiree heard the door.

Naturally, she assured that Jaden was back, quicker than expected.

However, when it opened, she saw someone that.... wasn't Jaden.

He wore tattered and torn jeans, had a thick hoodie on, and the hood was taken up completely, obscuring his face.

"....." he was silent, before closing the door.

"Lemonade? No problem!" Jaden replied.

"I'll go and grab that now." he told her.

"I should be back in... eh... give me 10 minutes." he said.

"Don't want to use my portals flippantly and all that." he reasoned.

"At any rate, I shall be back with food for you." he told her.

"Back soon!" he finished, as he grabbed his jacket and left to go get her lunch.

Jaden laughed a little when she said that.

"Truth." he said.

"He makes them SO well." he commented.

"But sure." he then said.

"I'll grab you a few." he told her.

"What do you want to drink?" he asked.

"You know what drinks he has, and what's around."

"Yes." Rene replied.

"I don't know why he didn't finish you off." he admitted.

"But let's be glad he didn't." he muttered.

-Several days later-

It was lunchtime, on the last day that Desiree was to spend in the hospital. Rene was out with Kalin for his break, and Jaden was in Desiree's room with her.

"So." he said.

"You want some of those taco-wrap things from the vendor just down the street?" he asked.

"I can go and grab for you, seeing as you're a bit... well... stuck here until tomorrow."

Rene shook his head.

"You have nothing to apologize for." he said.

"This is all Deryck's fault." he told her.

He then checked her over, and when he was done, he nodded.

"Yep." he said.

"You'll be experiencing a bit of muscle-mind confusion with your mana." he told her.

"Which is to say, your mana won't do what you tell it to do for a few days." he clarified.

"So for those few days, at the very least, I'm keeping you here."

Jaden was about to say something, when Rene stepped in.

"Oh!" he said.

"You're awake!" he commented, before making his way over.

"Right then." he said.

"Desiree, good to see you finally woke up." he told her.

"We were wondering when you would."

"I'll pay to get you out of the lease." Jaden told her.

"I'll pay to keep the lease going." he went on.

"I'll do whatever it takes." he said further.

"I'll drain that scum dry." he growled.

"I'll make sure he NEVER bothers you AGAIN."

Jaden just nodded, and set the headphones aside.

"Are you all right." he asked, making sure she was looking at him.

"....we were so worried about you." he told her.

"Kalin... Rene... myself..." he listed off.

"Even Silver's been a bit edgy and worried." he added.

Jaden jumped back a bit when she reacted as she did.

But he quickly put a hand on her shoulder.

"Desiree! It's okay." he said.

"Look." he said further, showing her her headphones.

"Here." he went on, gently bringing them closer.

"....you're safe here..." he added quietly, sounding more like he was trying to convince himself, more than anyone else.

Jaden's eyed popped open when he heard Desiree stir.

"....oh my holy hell." he said.

He then turned around, and looked at Desiree.

"Desiree!" he exclaimed, even though she couldn't hear.

"You're finally awake!" he said further.

He then took a small breath, and waited for her to fully get her bearings.

"You'd know more than I would." Rene replied.

Another day had passed, and Jaden was sitting in the chair beside Desiree's bed.

"....damn it all..." he cursed quietly.

"If only I'd been there." he said.

"This isn't right." he mumbled.

"Damn it..." he lamented, as he held her headphones in his hands.

"Mm." Rene muttered.

"Yeah." he said.

He then sighed, before giving her a hug.

"Jaden's taking this really hard as well." he told her.

"He refuses to leave her side." he continued.

"And I mean that. I don't think he's left the hospital since he got there when Desiree was admitted."

Rene looked at Kalin, and nodded.

"Indeed." he replied.

With that, the two of them left the station, and Rene looked at her.

"Want me to call you when Desiree wakes up?" he asked.

"It should be soon." he told her.

"....hopefully..."
