I agree with Llama, I've always found dithering to be difficult to wrap my mind around when I try it.
But its such a satisfying look

Perhaps these tutorials will be usefull: First and Second
Dithering can be tedious... it takes a lot of time to place all those pixels, but I find it can be worth it.

@Glume:
The texture one looks super useful! With dithering I guess the most difficult part for me is making it work in the actual piece~

I hope everyone had a great New Year's eve!

So I tried to do some "red envelopes" for the chinese new year's promt, they didn't turn out that great though xD

They're supposed to say 福, which should mean "blessed", or something like that?
I'd really like feedback, because I have no idea how to shade a flat object like this without making it look... Unshaded?

@koneko:
Thank you :> I just can't help but feel that the edges look too "soft", or that the whole thing just looks pillow shaded ;;

@Alethna:
I've never hear of that program before, looks really great for creating sprites though!
and your bf's game looks amazing :viohearteyes: think I've seen screenshots of it before!

@koneko:
I had a difficult time not only making the shape of the cards, but making two that would look good together, so maybe I'll play around with it some more at some point
I just finished it when I posted, so waiting and checking it out again in a couple days sounds like a great idea

@Alethna:
That's probably why I've seen it before, then! aw, that's sweet

I use Aseprite for all my animations too. It's my favorite program for animating pixels.

Nice! I often work in black and white before adding color so I can get a feel on the values. Then I just use a color replacer when I want to add the colors in.

@llama:
Aww I love the new years cards! That inspires a fun idea if I was ever so ambitious. Making pixel trading cards :vanora_xd:
Anyway, I'm also too new to crit, but I'd say it looks really good! The only thing I might notice is the cards almost blend together. Not that I'd now how to fix that other than maybe the dots on the edge of the card that overlaps the other could be a tiny bit darker. idk, we need a pro lmao

@alethna:
Oh! Thanks for the recommendation, I'll add it to the board :D
Does your bf do all of his own pixelling? That looks really good <3
I love how supportive you are of his game as well. I'll have to check it out

Your candles are very cute too <3 grayscale was a fun move

@alethna:
That is awesome! Exactly what I hope to achieve for my own stories, which is why I'm trying to practice pixels for a while.
I did check out your bf's game and it really looks like something I'd enjoy playing. Although I'm one of those who waits for games to finish before I bother xD

I was working on a different one at home, but I had some free time at work so I whipped up this lil dude. Sorry I can't make it transparent though. I only have MS Paint here lol.

Ahh you guys are awesome :D
I'm going to be updating to a new theme today! It will be ice cream!
I actually hoped to finish a pixel of a glop of ice cream to start us out with but I had to work, so I'll just have to get back to it later lmao

Anyway, this will be the start of our official biweekly theme thing. The last one only lasted a week so I can strategically select a day that I wont forget to update on--pay day! lol So this ice cream theme will last until the 17th

@koneko:
I originally wanted to make my favorite ice cream, bunny tracks (moose tracks but from the Bunny brand)
but I couldn't make pixel bunny chocolates work on a small scale :vanora_xd:

I was also trying out another pixel app for ipad, Dottable. dont like it lmao
I'll have to edit this on another program later to make it the size it was meant to be, and transparent :D
