@Rallaa: Good luck on that. I've yet to get any shines in the new game.

@Aisukohi: Oooh that can be a challenge depending on the mood of said 5 year old, right?

@Rallaa: I kinda know some of the newer generations' names, but it's all so overwhelming on top of the newer types that I just don't bother lol.

@Rei Ann: Yep. He's in a good mood at least, so hopefully it won't be long until he settles down.

@Aisukohi: Ooh that's good right? I don't have kids, only nieces, so I assume settling down means sleep.

@Rei Ann: Yep, settling down means sleep lol. He's my only human child so far, but I'm the oldest of 5 children, so I have some experience raising littles. None of my siblings have human babies yet, but hoping I get to be an aunt someday.

@Rei Ann: I got two so far. One was a meowth during a mass outbreak, the other was given to me by my GF, because for some reason she has just been tripping over shinies. She doesn't even have the shiny charm, but she randomly found 6. One of which was a duplicate, so she gave it to me.

@Aisukohi: I'm the eldest, and did raise my siblings, but to get my baby brother to sleep when I was 8, we always just popped in a blue clues vhs for him. I got a niece from my sister, and two from my sister in law. Nieces or niblings as I have heard people call them are great.

@Rallaa: That makes her super lucky. I want to get just one shiny, my husband got a few even without the charm as well.

@Rei Ann: lol I've definitely used some movies to calm down my siblings and keep them occupied. Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. were a couple I came to learn every line since they watched those again and again, yet somehow I never tired of those movies?

I don't have much experience raising girls since I just have 1 sister and 3 brothers. Fiance has several nieces and nephews, but they all live across the country, so don't get to see them too often. Family get togethers are always fun when they do happen though.

@Rallaa: I have Scarlet, and he has Violet. He doesn't have the shiny charm yet, because I need to get my paradoxs.

@Aisukohi: Well the siblings I helped raised was one girl and one boy, and the were obessed with Finding Nemo, and a non kids movie Weekend at Bernie's. They've a watched those so much, that I legit can't stand to watch them nowadays.

@Rei Ann: My girlfriend is playing on Violet too.
Welp, that's enough circumstantial and anecdotal evidence for me to conclude that Violet version just has higher shiny rates.

@Rei Ann: Yep.
I would say that having the cavewoman waifu professor is a consolation, but she's barely a factor until an endgame reveal. Big sad.

@Rei Ann: Understandable. I guess I've just learned to tune things out over the years. My son is repetitive in the stuff he watches too, but I don't really mind. It drives my other family nuts, but they just need to learn to tune it out, I think.

@Aisukohi: I tune stuff out without even meaning to. Mostly people, when I'm maybe reading something or typing stuff.
But if it's anything on TV, I almost cannot.
My girlfriend likes to leave the TV on for background noise. One minute, I'm doing something on my computer, the next, I'm listening and then watching The Big Bang Theory.
And I really don't like The Big Bang Theory.

@Rallaa: I can totally understand that. It depends on the source and what I happen to be doing for me to pay attention or tune it out. Sometimes I use the tv for background noise, and other times I'll watch things, but only if it doesn't require all of my attention. For example, sometimes I don't feel like watching subbed anime because I don't have the energy for it. My fiance listens to various D&D podcasts, and although I don't mind listening to the plots here and there, I find myself getting annoyed by the podcasters' voices a lot of the time. I don't necessarily mean their character voices--I'm talking about out-of-character asides and mannerisms. I know it's hard to separate out/in-character with D&D, but certain mannerisms I just...can't.

I liked The Big Bang Theory starting out, but I really wish they didn't continue the series past a certain point because it got too predictable and some of the characters are just yuck. However, I finally managed to pick back up on the series if ONLY because I don't like leaving things unfinished, so going to continue until I've seen it all.
