@Deaa: How are you enjoying the HP series so far? I originally read it while it was still being written, so going to the book releases was a real treat :)

I write Harry Potter fanfiction now -- I find that I almost enjoy some of the fanfics more than the books at this point! Especially the darker themed ones :D Right now, I'm focusing on a couple of crossover fics - HP as BCC Sherlock's son, which has gotten some pretty good reviews.

And, of course, In Renascentia Azkaban, which I've posted the first part of here on Voltra. That one is a crossover between HP and The Old Kingdom / Abhorsen Series by Garth Nix. The link is in my signature, if you want to check it out :)

I should probably give the books another read-through, though. It's been a while since I sat down and read them in full.

So, I think I might have a solution ... at least for a bt.

My father has invited me to travel the county with him in a brand new RV. He arrives in a month, and we will be driving back to California if his current RV hasn't sold, If it has sold, we will be buying a larger RV here in Maine - where I live. Either way, I will be out of my current situation by the beginning of August, and on my way to a completely different life.

One with travel, away from a job I hate. Away from low income housing, an over medicated mother, etc.

I've begun selling / giving away a lot of my things - the little knick-knacks or clothes I don't normally wear, and packing up a lot of my other stuff. I won't be able to bring a lot on the RV - limited space - so I need to pick and choose carefully.

Still, at least for now, I actually have some hope. Which is something I haven't had in a long time.

So, I don't really have anywhere to talk about this.

I am suffering from some pretty serious depression and anxiety right now. I live with a mother who suffers from the same, and is on a ton of meds because of it. I know the symptoms, both in myself and in others. I know it's not good.

I don't really eat. I barely sleep. I can't seem to get through a full day at work without breaking down crying. I'm drinking too much. Nothing interests me, nothing helps. My best coping mechanisms are now useless, and I just can't help but wonder if it's even worth fighting anymore.

I'm exhausted, both mentally and physically, and more and more I find myself wondering if it wouldn't be easier to just end it all.

Sure, some people would be sad for a while, but then they would get over it, move on with their lives. And I would finally NOT be in pain, NOT be exhausted, NOT have to fight just to make it through another day.

Welcome to the site! With the avatar communities available these days, I think Voltra really does stand head and shoulders above the rest. The only of those sites you mentioned that I recognized was Gaia, which has gone seriously downhill imho.

@koneko: Same here. I usually post on my laptop, but I use my phone on occasion. The website isn't really optimized for phones, though, so it's usually a hassle. I wish they would make an app for this website :( Or at least a mobile version!

The thing about this new laptop? I had a MacBook Air from 2013 before. Now, I have an HP / Windows laptop, so I can play all the games I've missed out on since I got the mac. I own games like Skyrim, Fallout 4, etc. that I haven't been able to play because they don't run on a mac, and I can finally play them!

Well, maybe on Fallout 4. I'm downloading it now from Steam, so we'll have to see if this new laptop is powerful enough to run it. Even minimum specs would be epic <3

@Lilypoo: Ooh! Another FFXIV player! What server do you play on? I'm on midgardsormr.

I used to be on another server, but people I know IRL play on midgardsormr , so I switched over :) I'm officially back up to the level I was on my old server, though, so yay!

So, my father was worried about me - I've been going through some medical issues lately. So what does he do?

He bought me a brand new laptop!

He told me the price range, and let me shop around online until I found what I wanted. I had $500 to work with, but he was willing to a little higher if I found something I really wanted.

My new laptop is amazing! I'm downloading all my games now, but I already have my desktop set up with some extra rainmeter gadgets, and my favorite Final Fantasy X wallpaper <3

What do you guys use to go on Voltra? Desktop PC, laptop, tablet, phone …?

I only know two people who might be able to help, and that would be $250 from each of them - my father, and my grandfather. And that is waaaaay too much to ask.

@SirLionelNigelConrad: My renter's insurance wants $500 upfront for the hotel stay, and they will pay the rest. i wish I had $500 to throw around like that!

@Priestess of Pie: We rent. Our landlord is handling all the repairs, but it's going to be about 3 weeks before we can move back into the apartment. Luckily, we have rental insurance, and the repairs aren't costing us anything personally. However, not having our own place to live right now ... this isn't going to be fun.

So, I had a pipe burst inside my house last night, around midnight. Since then, I have been informed that we will be without a place to live for 3 weeks. The ceiling has collapsed, and we have flooding damage from the heating unit / pipe bursting flooding the upstairs and causing the ceiling collapse.

My life currently sucks.

The only silver lining is that my work gave me a day off work to deal with insurance and finding a place to live.

@Night XIV: My avatar definitely needs an update, too. I'm on the last day of my "vacation" ... I had to work 2 1/2 days between Christmas and new years day, but I've still had more days off than I'm used to, so yay! Did you get anything awesome for christmas?
