Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it’s a plan!

Quite honestly, I think that's kind of freaky. Do you even know people in real life on there? How old are they? Why can't they DM people? It just sound incredibly fishy to me.

@PurpdaBurpPurp: I wish I could do that! But I have clients calling all the time (I'm a graphic artist), so I can't afford to just ignore unknown phone numbers, even when they aren't in my state.

@Frossy: I was working at Circle K before this - a gas station / deli / truck stop. Sometimes, you have to do whatever you can to make ends meet. But this is definitely a step up from that!

@Gatorlec: Sorry, I get kind of riled up when it comes to spam blockers. Most of the time, the people using them don't realize what the pre-recorded messages say, but they can be EXTREMELY nasty.

@vengeance: So, something similar to what I just got? A graphic / art designer? Or more like a fashion designer? Or maybe a game designer?

@kegs: IKR? I also get to write the blog posts - which, as an English / Journalism major, is also a part of the job I love. It's a small store - only 3 of us are full time, and we only have 1 part time employee who handles notary and legal documents - which is also a part I love.

I LANDED MY DREAM JOB!

I was recently hired as a graphic designer at a local print shop. While we do creative projects like posters, business cards, etc., we are also the local print shop for things such as architecture designs, local law firms, colleges in need of mass printing, and just your everyday people who need faxing and printing done. We also sell office and art supplies.

All in all, it combines two of my favorite things; customer service, and graphic art. The pay isn't great, but the hours are amazing; 9 to 5 monday through friday. In bad weather, if the boss closes the store we are still paid our full salary, and we get both vacation days and sick time, along with personal days that are earned at about 1 hour per week.

I can't believe that I actually got this job. I am in heaven!

Gatorlec:
I blocked scam call numbers, so my phone doesn't ring, nor does anything pop up but it if I look at the recent call screen it will still tell me when that number has tried to call me. The same two scam numbers have tried to call me three times a day every day for months. Thank fuck I blocked them.

I completely agree about scam callers - but did you know you're also blocking legit businesses?

I used to work for a call center that did work for companies like Direct TV, Spectrum, Virgin Mobile, etc. And those spam blockers? They are evil. Most of them use pre-recorded messages made to sound like a real person, to mess with whoever is calling you. I have seen co-workers reduced to tears, shaking and crying from some of the things those pre-recorded message say to them. While I haven't broken down in tears, I have had to take a break after some of those calls. Being told I should kill myself, they hope I get raped, that they are going to track me down and kill me - these are some of the things those spam blocking apps say.

And all of this just because Spectrum, DTV, etc. wanted their equipment back after a customer had cancelled their service.

Short - which I am anyway, so it works out!

Would you rather: burn to death, or freeze to death?

@Jolly: That is totally me, haha. I'm like ... "I got you something. It's a thing. An awesome thing! Do you want to see a picture of the thing?!" And it just sort of snowballs from there, haha.

I love plotting surprises, but I'm terrible at keeping secrets.

Recently, I bought my boyfriend a quill set - quill with multiple nibs and black ink, all done in mock silver with absolutely beautiful embellishments. Of course, I told him about it days before it arrived. To be fair, I was drunk when i told him, so ....

I love to surprise my mother with flowers randomly (I live with her). Those are usually easier to do, since I buy them spur of the moment.

I wish I was better at keeping my mouth shut though, haha.

@Lufi: I know, right?! Most of the other sites bombard you with waaaaay too much on every page. Those of us with slower internet connections are pretty much unable to navigate, because of how long it takes to actually load the pages!
