Jaden looked to be about to say something, but then paused.

And thought for a moment.

"AH!" he exclaimed.

"Of course!" he said.

"I've seen you perform in the past!" he told her.

"Holy cow. I can't believe that didn't occur to me until now." he commented. "Your party-like tricks and levitation are amazing to behold." he complimented her.

"Admittedly, I haven't seen a show in a while..." he then admitted.

"But you tend to lean towards children's birthday parties, don't you?" he asked.

Jaden was about to comment on the tonal change to Desiree's voice, but stopped himself.

'No.' he thought.

'It's too early for that.' he told himself.

"And it was my pleasure and honor to meet you as well." he responded.

"But.... you don't have to call me that." he told her.

"My name is fine. Jaden."

Jaden was silent as Desiree said all she did, and then sighed at the end.

"....I know." he replied.

"Kalin tends to play a big role in my life as well." he told her.

"She's one of the two females I know that can scare me into acting a certain way. The way they WANT me to act." he admitted.

"...second being my mother..." he then mumbled.

"But it seems I have Kalin to thank, then." he continued.

"For allowing this to progress further... and better.... than it started."
@Lunakiri:

I nominate YOU!

Jaden watched Desiree set the bottles down in mid-air, and smirked.

'Handy.' he thought.

"Cool." he then said, in response to her programming the numbers into her phone later, and keeping an eye out for the text.

He then sighed when she said that last part, and shook his head.

"I should be the one thanking you." he said.

"For not just leaving, feeling hurt and insulted, like you had every right to." he finished.

'My god, that woman is adorable...' Jaden thought.

"Hold on." he said.

"Here." he told her, making his way over and giving her a couple more bottles of water.

"Take a couple more. I have plenty." he told her as she accepted them.

"Oh, and one more thing." he added, before going to his desk.

He grabbed something, scribbled something on it, and then Desiree noticed a small black slit form in the wall beside her... to which a business card slipped though.

With a number written on the back of it.

"Just so you recognize the number that I'll be texting from." he told her.

Jaden accepted the napkin, and looked at it.

"....cutest woman in town, huh?" he asked.

"I've seen quite a few women, you know." he said.

"....and I'd say that's accurate..." he admitted.

"Just... don't tell Kalin I said that." he then told her, looking around some.

"And large books? Great..." he muttered.

"So I should get on that sooner, rather than later." he concluded.

Jaden's eyes widened when she said that.

"I...." he stammered.

"Your... your number?" he asked.

"Yeah! Sure!" he exclaimed, before blinking a few times.

"Uh.... yes, that sounds good." he then quickly said.

"I can live with that." he told her.

And this was when Desiree got a hint... a clue... as to who 'Sabre' really was.

A goof.

"...common, huh?" Jaden asked.

"Shows how much of the dark I'VE kept myself in..." he mumbled to himself.

"At any rate, sorry for that first impression." he apologized again.

"But at least you got your headphones back." he went on.

"I've been hanging onto them... well... I'm not sure why." he admitted.

"I guess because maybe I'd find who owned them." he said. "And I have." he continued.

"I certainly didn't try them, anyway." he assured her.

"It's never easy to get a quick and easy answer out of ANY lawyer." Jaden responded.

"....and I know." he said.

"I know I should probably read up on it." he told her.

He then sighed deeply, and looked towards the ceiling.

"...and I know just where I can get that information." he continued.

"Probably." he said.

"And even if it's not there, she can point me in the right direction."

Jaden just pinched the bridge of his nose.

"You don't have to leave." he said.

"It seems it is I that need to change." he told her.

"Seems I need to adopt some new attitudes." he went on.

"Which is why I'm willing to bet you're here." he then said.

"I think Kalin decided I needed to learn a lesson." he continued, before pausing.

"And that YOU'D make the ideal teacher."

"........." Jaden was silent as he heard that.

"Hm." he muttered.

"I see." he said.

"......hm." he repeated, as he drummed his fingers together.

"Admittedly, I haven't sought out information on the eye." he told her.

"I try to stay as far away from it as possible." he went on.

"Well... until now, anyway." he added.

"I only buy water from mage-run companies." Jaden said.

"Their filtration is the real deal." he said further. "And they add just the right amount of mana to it, to make sure the water is as refreshing as possible, and shines on its own." he continued.

"Any other bottled water is some asshole with a hose and a marketing team." he then grumbled, before sighing.

"And... current information?" he asked.

"What do you mean?" he asked further.

"I know what the eye is for... and that... hasn't changed, right?"
Posted in Darkness before Dawn [Lunakiri x Colin] Posted 7 years ago
"First things first." Jaden replied.

"I'm sorry." he said.

"It's clear I reacted in a way that was insensitive and... well, wrong." he told her.

"And don't say I didn't. Because I know i did." he then quickly said further.

"Also, here." he told her, grabbing a bottle of water out of a nearby cooler and tossing it lightly towards her.

"That's some premium refreshing stuff there."
