My default answer to that question always seems to be mainland Japan (because at one point, I lived in Okinawa and hardly went to the mainland except for airports).

You can find them in most cities in the US - look for ones run by actual Mexican people :3 My best friend lives in Pennsylvania and he gets legit street tacos from a stand on his way to work.

I know parts of Mexico can be pretty dangerous, but it would be nice to explore "real" Mexico a bit. Everyone I've met from there is really nice and the country itself is LOVELY. The ruins (at least the ones I saw) are amazing.
Do either of you think you'd be able to get there at some point?

lol I know, though it depends on the city. I haven't found a ton of good places around here with really good tacos, but also, I tend to ask for some of the more exotic proteins, which not everyone has. My favorites are cabeza, lengua, and cuerito, but will also eat carne asada and chicken depending on how they spiced it.
@Wildfire: I might be able to go someday considering my fiance's family is from there (he was born in L.A. though). He's been once or twice in his life, and I'd love to go with him and his family. He has some distant family who still live there, though I'm not sure which parts. His mom goes to Mexico City from time to time.

@Aisukohi: I would guess that the north-west coast parts of Mexico are fairly different from the east. I've only been to Cozumel, Tulum, and had a chance to visit a couple of the cenotes
