Real talk, I've bought a few of the less expensive softwares and... I was NOT impressed. LMMS did everything I wanted and was free lol.

It is a lot of work, that's why we've been slowly gravitating toward more independent games ha ha. Everyone seems to enjoy them more anyway since they can play at their own pace.
