I get that. You might want to try doing something like pencil or charcoal where you can erase to an extent or try watercolor florals or something on that scale. The reason I suggest that latter one is because I do little corner decorations on 3x5 cards - so the actual ‘painting’ probably only takes up about 2x2 inches max. And since I’m not trying to cover even all of that space with paint it takes me only about 10-20 minutes (less if I’m not doing a ton of detail work with leaves) to cover the space. So if you mess up you haven’t wasted much time, you can throw it out and start on something new easy and not feel bad about it. And as you go it should get easier to work without an undo. Or at least that’s how it worked for me. I recongize not everyone is the same, but I think it could be worth giving it a go.

Calligraphy does take a certain amount of patience lol. I use a brush pen half the time these days because it’s quicker than using a dip pen.

Fun fact tho the pressure style you get with a dip pen is preeetty close to the same kind of pressure style you get on a digitizer for line thickness.

@crystalkitsune85:
On the topic of art - have you tried switching to mediums that have you doing significantly different art than what you would do digitally? I got really really badly art-blocked on digital art around when I was in my last year/graduating college. Couldn’t do it. I tried on a few ocassions but didn’t get much done. But I’d picked up calligraphy in the last couple of years so I worked on practicing that and I ended up getting into doing loose watercolor florals for a while too.

Turns out, without realizing it both of those mediums - which aren’t terribly forgiving the first time around but are relatively quick enough to get to the final product that you can always ‘re-do’ - had taught me to live with the first line I’d put down - whether it was exactly what I wanted or not. So that when I finally jumped back into digital art I’m a lot quicker and a lot less concious about every single line I put down.

Anyway my point is, It could be worth it for you to try to get into something really different for the change of pace which is good for art-block (like not wanting to bother because it could just be crap) and because you could learn techniques/modes of working that will translate to your digital art when you decide to go back to it.

Aw man I remember potter puppet pals. Serious Throwback.

I think I maaaaybe got one of those gaia gift cards as a gift once? But I don’t think I ever spent any of my own money on it. I never did acquire a toooon of items either but I’m sure everything I have on there is old enough now it’s probably worth loads.

Oooo that would be fun.

@lina:
I really really love your new avatar.

Well that’ll be mainly because today was the first day of my time off from work for the rest of the week so if I wasn’t lazing around the house I was working on this, haha.

If you mean how to credit me as the artist then my twitter handle @/moifdoesart is fine.
