I'm watching the mini-docu series on Netflix called "Dominique Olivier: Accessory to Evil." It's about a prolific pedophile serial killer who terrorized the border of Belgium and France in the early 2000s. Dominique is his wife who helped him find victims. She's just wretched.
Moving to different geographical areas seems to have that effect. I'm from the north and when I moved south for school I had some bad allergies because of all the new flora. Then I moved across the country and I'm introduced to completely new plants and environments so my poor head feels like a balloon whenever it's windy here. And it's windy often. //laughs

That being said, I hope your allergies clear up smoothly and you get better sleep tonight.

I've only ever caught little tidbits about women's roles in World War II. Didn't sex workers contribute greatly to the spy network for allies? I'd have to re-read the information but I think entertainers did a lot, too; developing codes, passing on information, etc.
I don't think I've ever seen a cat in a backpack in person, but there were a few people that carried their dogs in creative ways in more affluent parts of the city. Oregon was absolutely bonkers with the "pets" people would bring along. Every public space had the potential to become a zoo.

Moving out on your own can be exhilarating just as much as it can feel overwhelming and a bit scary. But there's nothing to fear, especially if your adequately prepare yourself. Perhaps if you start by just browsing some apartments in an area you would like to live (assuming that you're going to rent). It's going to cost more and significantly limit your options if you plant to bring or buy a pet but at least seeing what's available and what the cost will be can give you a goal for saving enough money or ensuring that your work is paying you enough to cover rent and any affiliated expenses (utilities, renter's insurance, etc.).

Most of the little things you figure out as you go; furniture, etc.
While I can't recommend having a roommate, the benefit of having one is that you can split the rent and utilities. The downside is that they're another human being who come with all their own idiosyncrasies and it's a real grab-bag of what you get.

@cashew: Ohh, if you're willing to sell the Year of the Monkey, Year of the Pig, and the Year of the Rooster, I'd love to buy them. They're in the 3rd cluster, column 11, 12 and 13 respectively.

Let me see if I can find some kind of price guide, otherwise, please name a price you're comfortable with.

Edit: Ah, so it looks like from the price guide, they're items from the 2020 Common Plasma Orb. The last sale reported to that thread was by the user Tsundererra on 02.27.2020; each item was 3k. Please feel welcome to set a higher price.

I think in another life I would be covered in tattoos.

I hope yours goes well and you heal smoothly!
I've seen those little ones that look like space pods with a round bubble-window. I wonder how your cat(s?) enjoyed the ride, hahaha.

Ah, the lactase pills really work? I feel like I've tried them in the past and they didn't really work for me so I just chose to pick-and-choose what I eat instead. I figured out that harder/aged cheeses are usually fine--plus I'm not eating them in a quantity that would do much. But soft cheeses will end me. Cream cheese may as well be called kryptonite.

That being said, freeze dried ice cream wasn't as fun as I thought it would be. It's like biting styrofoam with some flavor. But, ah, isn't there a dessert/snack just like it? It's called...halva? Helva? Halva. It's so similar.

I felt like freeze dried fruit is used mostly for camping or in a drink, but I've never come across anything I really wanted to try. My sibling went camping with freeze dried eggs and said they nearly hurled the first time they tried it.

I might be remembering this wrong, but it felt like a decade ago, there was a big boom for freeze dried ice cream.

Rumors have it that you can still hear her singing in the legumes aisle.

Hey legume, don't make it bad.

Congratulations on the job; it's very exciting to hear that you're enjoying yourself and moving forward. And best of luck with your housing situation; hopefully the financial issues aren't too draining.

This past January for me was fine. As I enter February, I'm getting a bit more stressed and feel a lot of helplessness but that's par for the course. I'm looking forward to being finished with studies for the last time, but even if I don't pass, I think this will be the end of it for me.

I'm looking forward to finding some employment at the end of February, and maybe finally taking a genuine breather without all of this looming over me. I feel like I'm in a bit of a limbo and just sort of tumbling around in a dryer. I did have some amazing hotpot a week or two ago and I look forward to enjoying it again with my partner.

I take a cbd gummy when I'm headed to an airport. It's not the flying that causes me stress, but the actual airport process and making sure everything is timed well. It's just the timing and being behind that one group of people who didn't think the rules applied to them.

Short commercial flights are pretty easy--usually the same kind of airport process if it's not international, but if it's just a short trip then you don't have to worry about bags. I had a short trip recently through the U.S./Québec that was pretty easy, even with customs. I've been in some small planes before and I can't say I really enjoyed those. Back home, you usually travel around the state through small planes and they're like these little tin cans just sort of being whisked around.

@MimikyuToo: I don't know how I'm still always so surprised when there are reckless drivers out there on the road. Where are they going? Are they late? Is it a mid-life crisis?

I hope your week is shaping up well, despite the bad drivers. ha ha!
