"A crossbreed?" Sharp asked.

"....of what?" Jake inquired.

"A Draydin and a Lantha." was the response that Angela gave.

This seemed to cause Jake to go silent.

"...I was unaware that that was even an option." he admitted. "Not because of genetic compatibility issues, but... don't those two races hate each other... a hatred which spanned countless centuries?" he asked further.

"That's a story of manipulation and cowardice." Sharp told him.

"But even still, a hybrid of those two species is... almost unheard of." he commented to Angela.

"And the fact that she's bound to such a human form raised a lot more questions." he added.

Sharp just sighed as well.

"I see." he said.

"The boy seems a little more receptive, though." Jake then commented.

Meanwhile, Lindsay just sighed as he walked closer to Anna.

"A place they call 'The Unit'." he told her.

"You... you were dying, Anna." he then said. "I wasn't able to do anything. But a couple of people showed up, and... I felt I could trust them." he went on.

"...well... one of them, anyway." he then added.

"I... well..." Lindsay stammered.

"One of them... was like us." he said.

"He was used... abused... by Miss Vanessa." he told her.

"I could tell... he was... he had venom in his tone when he spoke about her. He spoke about horrors that we went through... as if he went through them." he went on.

"And... and I was at the end of my rope..." he then admitted.

"I didn't want to lose you, Anna." he told her, sounding near-tears.

"I didn't want to be left alone in this world."

Lindsay was silent, and just looked away slightly.

"...I know..." he said.

He then handed her the container he had.

"Here." he told her. "Food." he said further.

"Like... actual cooked and prepared food. With fresh fruits that we couldn't get before." he told her further.

"...if you want them, that is."

Lindsay just smiled as Anna started to eat.

"...this place seems like a nice place." he told her.

"...the people here seem... nice... as well." he went on.

He then paused for a moment, and sighed.

"How are you feeling?" he then asked her, changing the subject.

"You look a lot better than before." he commented.

Lindsay looked disheartened when she said the last part.

"I'm not surprised." he said.

"...all right." he said further.

"We'll go when you're well again." he told her.

"But... just... please let yourself get better." he then said.

"It was scary to think I would lose you."

Lindsay thought for a moment.

"I...." he stammered.

"I actually never asked-" he started to say, before snapping his fingers.

"Wait!" he exclaimed.

"I overheard some people talking in the cafeteria earlier!" he told her.

"....um..." he then mumbled, realizing he hadn't heard much of anything of that conversation.

"San... something..." he admitted sheepishly.

"Sorry... I don't really know anything beyond that."

Sharp looked back at the young lady that had approached him.

"...sure." he replied. "What's up?" he asked.

-A week or so later-

Anna had fully recovered, and was back to 100%. To look at her, one would have never guessed that she had even been sick in the first place, let alone as bad as she had been.

However, one that had not changed. And that was her attitude towards the Unit.

She did NOT want to stay here, and since Sharp told her she was free to go, as long as she didn't stir up so much trouble again, she was leaving.

Lindsay was joining her, though it was clear that he was very uneasy about it. He had grown to rather like the Unit, and some of the people there... but he wasn't going to leave Anna.

"...where are we going to go NOW, Anna?" he asked her as they reached the security check.

Lindsay was silent, and just nodded.

"....K." was all he said in response.

He then sighed, and looked back at the building they were leaving.

"...bye." he said quietly.

"Thank you for being nice to us." he said further, knowing full well nobody would hear him.

Lindsay looked around when he heard the voice.

"Huh?" he mumbled.

It didn't sound like anyone from the Unit that he'd heard before, but they sounded like they were familiar with the two of them.

"Who?" he asked, looking around.

"Who's there?"
