"A bit rough around the edges, but that's it." Callie answered.

"I'll be fine. It's just a case of not slowing down. Because getting caught up in those again? That really won't be fun." She added with a sigh as they walked.

"But seriously though, I'm fine. I'll survive for the moment."

"Right." Adam replied.

"I agree." he said.

"Come on, then!" he exclaimed.

"I'll see what I can do about our injuries when we clear this." he finished, as they ran.

Callie was silent before nodding.

"I'll help with anything I can do so with." She said as they continued walking.

Thankfully, getting through that proved even fewer problems than either of them had expected there to be.

once they were through, there was silence, and plenty of it around them. It was unnerving, to put it very simple.

Adam stopped when they reached the silence.

".......Callie..." he whispered.

"This... this is too quiet." he said.

"This silence is... unnatural." he told her.

"It means something's wrong. Like, REALLY wrong." he went on.

"This place is supposed to be teeming with life."

Callie just sighed.

"That doesn't surprise me, to be honest." She commented as she turned to look at him.

"But, I have no idea what to make of it. Other than that we obviously have to get our shit in gear and fix this place." She paused a moment.

"Wait... isn't the shrine grounds.... aren't they huge?"

Adam nodded.

"They are." he replied.

"Quite huge." he said.

"The shrine's blessing reaches out a great distance." he went on, before pausing for a moment.

"Why?" he then asked, looking around.

"What are you thinking...?"

"And we just got onto the actual grounds for it, right?" Callie asked, to which Adam nodded in response.

"Isn't there's something that protects the grounds?" She asked.

"And how long do you think it'll take for us to cross them anyway?"

Adam's eyes widened.

".....there is." he replied.

"There IS a guardian." he realized, and reported vocally.

"...but... where IS it...?" he mumbled.

"Why isn't it doing its job...?" he asked further, before pausing.

"Unless-" he started to say, before freezing.

"Listen." he whispered, as rustling could be heard suddenly.

Callie was silent before paying attention.

". . . wonder what tha tis." She said quietly, moments before the rustling stopped. It didn't take long, maybe half a breath, before they heard it again.

Closer this time.

". . . wanna get moving?" Callie asked.

"I get a really unnerving feeling from whatever it is."

Adam nodded.

"Yes." he replied.

"Yes, I do." he told her.

"I get the feeling that if we stay still, we're in danger." he said.

With that, they started to move forward, with Adam looking upwards consistently.

"...whatever it is... it's upwards." he commented.

"Then let's move." Callie said with a nod before sighing.

As they walked, she seemed preoccupied. There was something in the air that she couldn't place, but she knew that it was there. She couldn't identify it, and couldn't identify WHY it was bothering her.

They were walking for about an hour before they split apart slightly to walk down the thing paths. It was split by a tree, so each took one side. They could see each other still, no issues there, so there was no issue with it, especially considering neither of them wanted to walk in front of or behind the other. They wanted to stay even.

As Callie walked through though, she wasn't paying attention before walking through something she did NOT like.

"Ugh. Dammit." She growled as she looked around, to see far more webbing than she'd ever seen in the past.

The more she looked, the more webbing she saw.

It was an insane amount of webbing.

A scary amount of webbing.

An unnatural amount of webbing.

And then she heard the rustling. Which became more of a shuffling. Which then sounded like skittering.

Meanwhile, Adam was looking around as well.

"........loooooootta webbing here..." he mumbled, before his eyes widened.

"Ohhhhhhhh nooooooo..." he murmured, before looking towards Callie.

"Callie!" he whisper-yelled to her, hoping she'd hear him.

CAllie was completely silent as she tried to back out of the webbed messs he'd found herself in, but it didn't take long before she was feeling stuck, trapped.

There was a far higher amount than she was used to, and it was far more effective than she'd expected.

"Dammit" She cursed.

"Adam!" She called out in the same kinda of whisper that he'd called to her, "I'm stuck!"

Adam's pupils shrank when she said that.

"No..." he whispered.

"Crap, crap, crap!" he cursed, before starting to race towards her.

That was when she heard something else.

And when she looked up, she swore she saw a leg.

A large... long... hairy... leg.

Callie was completely silent as she saw the leg.

". . . I'm not arachnophobic.... but that... is just terrifying." She then said quietly before shaking her head and trying to tear the webbing off of her. She was having very little luck, but that made sense.

Dammit... She growled mentally, not sure what it was that she could do here. She found herself cursing the lack of a blade again.

Seemed she'd have to find another at some point.

Just as she rued the fact she had no blade, Adam joined her.

"....crap." he said.

"It's as I feared." he said further.

"This webbing... this amount..." he went on, looking around.

"...the guardian..." he whispered.

"Callie, we're square in Guardian territory." he told her.

"Let me know if you see anything... that resembles an arachnid." he finished, before attempting to free her from the webbing.

"So... that was a giant spider leg I saw earlier." Callie commented.

"Good to know. And thank heavens I'm not scared of spiders." She added.

"Looked like it came from that direction." she added before pointing to the left.

Adam paused for a moment.

"....giant spider leg?" he asked.

When she nodded, he gulped audibly.

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhh crap, crap, crap." he mumbled.

"That's the guardian." he told her.

"And it's probably not happy with us." he said further.

"Let me know if you see any glowing eyes." he finished, before he started to work faster at freeing her.

Callie was silent as they worked to get her free. In the time, there was nothing that either of them saw or felt that said the spider was there.

At least, not until Callie was freed.

Only then did they notice one of the long spindly legs that were on either side of them.

Trapping them right there.

"....oh." he mumbled.

"Callie, we need to be VERY careful." he told Calysta.
