he both is and isn't named after an anime character...
when we got him my brother suggested the name "Alphonse"
I thought "haha that sounds like a fancy old man name, yes, I love it."
I found out way after I've already grown attached to it he got it from FMA
and there's nothing WRONG with FMA don't worry I'm not insulting it kJHDJKD but it chaps me because now every time I tell people my cat's name and they get excited, I have to let them down by telling them I know absolutely nothing about the series ;'3c
(but we all just call him "Al" because it's a good name for an oaf like him, or just a bunch of nicknames)

That's interesting! I've read FMA, but I don't think I would necessarily think that a cat named Alphonse was named after the FMA character. I guess it doesn't seem like an uncommon enough name. On the other hand I knew someone with pets named like Sirius, Hermione, and such. In that case I made an immediate connection to Harry Potter.
