@CooperationIsKey: oh no! I'm sorry to hear that about your roomie and the accident - I hope it's nothing severe! ... the ER to get checked out, though? That seems... a little odd to me, tbh. Why wouldn't she be directed to go through more regular channels - primary doc, specialist, whatever - instead of going to the ER??

I'm glad to hear that you seem to be ok, though. I wish the best for your roommate :3

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/13 16:49:04 )

@Wildfire: Ah I see :3
I sort of get that too when I eat very oily foods. It just gives me weird headaches for a bit.
Yeah it's going to be sunny for the rest of the week it is spring after all :3

Donator — whatever Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/13 22:35:14 )

@Wildfire: Her doctor refused to see her and told her to go to the ER. However she had lunch plans with someone who was leaving to go out of state today so she pushed it off to tomorrow. And thank you. <3

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/14 16:01:20 )
@Purpsy: Yeah... that. XD It sucks though... especially if you're not expecting something you're eating to trigger that response.
I'm glad you're getting a dose of sunshine! Down here, we're hoping for rain... it has been far too long since it has rained... at all.

@CooperationIsKey: ...errr... ok. That just doesn't sound like an "ER" type of visit. I mean ER is supposed to be for real emergencies ... and since she's apparently not in immediate danger.... /shrug/ At least she's not feeling badly enough to rush. I hope there's nothing severe going on.

Donator — She/her Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/14 21:29:10 )

@Wildfire: Yeah it's like record highs around here. Same weather you would see in June here, not early April.
I think I'm coming down with something. I'm hot and then cold and I feel off....I don't want to be sick. I was supposed to go to a festival this weekend but now, I don't know

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/15 13:38:37 )
@Totalanimefan: let's hope it's temporary... High temps there over the summer are not good.

Awwww...I hope you're not getting sick!

Donator — She/her Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/15 16:51:31 )

@Wildfire: Yeah really. Is this just a preview of how bad the summer will be? I hope not. I also hope that hurricane season is tame for everyone down south.

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/15 18:08:42 )

@Wildfire: Ah yikes then I really hope it rains soon :/
But next week is going to hit single digits again... just normal typical canadian weather. Is a bit abnormal that it warm up so soon usually I feel this kind of warmth by the end of may through june.

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/16 14:04:02 )
@Totalanimefan: Time will tell what the weather will be this year. It's always rather variable and seems to come in waves of "hot here/cool there, crazy hurricane season/no storms" :/ Let's hope it's a fairly comfortable summer for everyone! :3

@Purpsy: Yeah... and ironically, a couple hours south of us apparently just got a lot of rain that's just sitting, which isn't the best either. LOL - I know exactly the kind of warmth you're talking about now! Yeah, that's a bit much for this time of year...

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/16 14:39:46 )

@Wildfire: ugh yeah :/
Anyway how's your morning fairing so far?

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/17 13:17:02 )
@Purpsy: Good morning. Again. XD

My day yesterday was fine, thank you - I got breakfast, did a couple of errands, took care of a few things, and hung out with hubby... a basic Sunday, really. It could have been more productive, but... meh. I think we needed the down time. :3

Right now, I'm trying to figure out the details of my day (well, after the coffee kicks in). I was selected to do Jury Duty today, but my group of candidates wasn't needed, so I'm off from that particular responsibility. I should probably get groceries at some point (or maybe I'll just take something out of the freezer) and... uuhhh... I dunno what the day has in store ATM.

But it rained! After months of absolutely no rain, it actually rained here last night! It was an actual storm, with low rumbles of thunder and some lightning, and it lasted more than 10 minutes! My dog wasn't real happy with it, but we really needed it (still need it, but this is a start)...

Donator — whatever Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/17 14:28:05 )

@Wildfire: I guess they sent her to the ER because they needed to do imaging. I dunno. But the good news is the hardware from her previous injury is intact! The bad news is there's a 'nodule' on her lungs apparently. She's a smoker so that's especially alarming. :I At least I think she's finally going to actually quit smoking? ._.;;

In other news, yay rain! It was nice to hear thunder for a change. :3

Please ping me!

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/17 18:49:16 )
@CooperationIsKey: ... the ER thing still confused the hell out of me, tbh. If it's a matter of imaging, there are many other options for imaging available that do not include or involve the emergency room... but whatever... I guess. /shrug/ It sounds like it's good news for her though, all things considered... previous hardware intact... and an early diagnosis/observation about that nodule...

... and OMG Yes! It was sooooo good to have rain and hear thunder last night! My dog wasn't really thrilled with it, but I was! XD

Donator — She/her Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/17 20:53:22 )

@Wildfire: Here is to hoping. The temps and sun were so extreme here yesterday that my husband got minor sunstroke while we were out yesterday and some of the spots I missed with sunscreen are a little tender.

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/18 07:38:09 )

@Wildfire: Awe that's good! I hope you get more rainy days there for the coming days :3
Jury duty? That's erm interesting although I don't have the faintest clue what it is

It's supposed to snow again this coming week. I suppose the sunny weather is too good to be true and this constant abnormal change of weather is getting people sick here including me. My throat been feeling scratchy all day I'm afraid I might end up losing my voice like my mother did. But other than that my weekend went well.

@Totalanimefan: sunburn this early in the year is harsh, but fairly normal after being covered up for several months over the winter. Still... ouch?

@Purpsy: Jury Duty... it's a U.S. Constitution thing. When somebody is accused of a crime here, they are entitled to a "Jury of Peers" as part of the court processing (with the judge and the lawyers) to help determine their guilt or innocence. This jury is comprised of common people from the local area (registered voters/citizens), and chosen randomly from the voting record pool. Usually a bunch of people are "called" as potential jurors for an upcoming case and get a notification in the mail to show up at a specified Court on a specified day, at a specified time. If you receive this notification, you are expected to attend. Workplaces are required to give you the time off without penalty, and there are valid reasons (primary caregiver for young children/elderly, no longer living in the area, being an active police officer, etc.) to be "excused" and not to show, but it your Duty as an American Citizen to participate in this process to help retain and safe-guard the Freedoms guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. The whole idea behind it is, as mentioned, to be a type of safety-check to make sure that judges and lawyers don't start abusing their power and putting all kinds of innocent people in jail. It is supposed to be local, peer, representation and voice of the People.

Often, the cases that are scheduled for Court are resolved before the court date, in which case the potential Jurors are excused, and their call to Service is cancelled. This is what apparently happened in my case this time - I didn't have to go. If the case is not resolved ahead of time though, and actually goes to trial, the candidates show up where/when indicated and usually sit around in a courthouse for a while, waiting to be called (or not) to go through the interview process to select Jurors for whatever case(s) the Court System has scheduled for that day. I have been called for Jury Duty ... about 4-5 times?... in my life and never got past the initial interview stage (I got to this point once, and I was very young; don't think I was the "peer" demographic they were looking for at the time). If you are selected through the interview process, you are expected to sit in the Jury, in the court room, listening to the legal arguments, assessing whatever Case you've been chosen for, and do your best, along with the other Jurors, to help determine Guilt or Innocence for the person being tried for their crime.

Other countries have a "jury of peers" system in place as well, but a number of other countries do not. I don't really know anything about that or those alternate systems, though...

@Wildfire: Yeah really. My skin finally feels normal today, but my husband's is still upset. But I wore a lot more sunscreen. Still didn't think we would be out in the sun for like 6+ hours.

Voltie Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/18 16:23:57 )
@Totalanimefan: Yeah... that'll do it! XD I'm sorry to hear you're sunburnt, though, and hope you and hubby feel better soon. Sunburn isn't fun. :(
I'm actually making a point of showing more skin and getting outside in short bursts these days (like walking the dogs) because I have been self-cooped-up due to the pollen (which has now mostly receded; at least for me), so I haven't seen much sun lately either... and I don't want to get burned...

Donator — She/her Posted 1 year ago ( 2023/04/18 16:53:20 )

@Wildfire: Yeah I did put it on before I left, and then again when we stopped at a coffee place, but that was like 4 hours into being out in the sun and then after that we went back out. My skin is ok today luckily! But yeah I feel like I hadn't felt that sick from the sun in many, many years. Like since I was a pre-teen. I think my husband learned that even when it's only UV 6, you still need it if you are going to be out for hours.

@Totalanimefan: lol. It is important to take precautions to keep your sun exposure within your personal body tolerances, and to have some kind of protection against hours and hours of sun exposure, if that's what happens. Sunburn sucks.
