She's always hated them. She doesn't see the purpose of using gallons of water to wash dishes. And I get how it takes slightly longer to get the dishes clean. But during that time it frees up your hands so you can get more than one task done. She doesn't see it that way though. She sees them as wasteful devices for the lazy good-for-nothings.

I've never had a dishwasher until moving to my new house. I used to have one growing up for a short time. My mom ran it twice a year without dishes. Eventually she had it removed because she was embarrassed to have it in the kitchen where people would see. She insisted that people would judge her for it and say she was lazy. Literally no one judges people for having dishwashers other than her.

First thing she does when she sees my new house? Tell me I need to have the dishwasher removed asap before anyone else sees.

Also she's fine with laundry washers and dryers. I don't get her deal with it.

@Wildfire:
I figured it was just fictional nonsense but I've also heard horror stories about HOAs. The most extreme case I've heard of personally was was this kid in high school I knew. His brother was disabled physically and they put in a concrete ramp. The HOA deemed it unsightly and against code. Same with their window air conditioner. After a year or so of fighting with them, the kid's family picked up and left. He still rode my bus though. I heard there were a few lawsuits against the HOA but I never found out what came of them. I was young and at the time I hardly paid attention to those sorts of things.
I was watching Christmas with the Kranks. Does a HOA have that type of authority? I know they can dictate when you can put up and take down decorations. But can they force you to participate in holidays?
The bacteria in a UTI feed off the body's supply of sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. When the bacteria deplete electrolytes in the urine, the brain doesn't function as well. Which can result in delirium, hallucinations and hypotension.
This reaction is extremely rare in health people but isn't uncommon in the elderly, immune impaired, and those who are underweight or suffer from malnutrition. People who have pelvic prolapse have been known to get these symptoms from a UTI.

The body is wild sometimes.

Here's a nice recipe without a 20 page long life story about my entire family and their cooking habits.

16 states codified abortion rights before Roe vs Wade was overturned.

@Alorrena:
They shouldn't be able to prosecute, but most likely they will in some places. Like Texas for example where people have had that debate on whether miscarriages should be criminalized for years. There have even been attempts in the past to criminalize it. With Abbot behind the wheel, and getting support, I wouldn't be surprised if miscarriages quickly became illegal there.

Posted in Mother's day was a day of mourning Posted 2 years ago
My mother finally sold her dilapidated house. She told me this evening. She wanted me to come over and say goodbye to the house. It was for closure she said. I know it was my childhood home but I thought it was silly. I went anyways because It was mother's day.

I didn't think that was going to hurt as bad as it did. There were a lot of memories there. A lot of bad ones, but good ones too. Ones I completely forgot about. They all surfaced and now It feels like I'm letting go of a family member in a way. Like I haven't lived there in years but it still kind of hurts.

My mother needed to move but I'm also worried that this is going to impact her financially to the point where she can't retire. She planned to retire in a year and a half but I don't know if her pension will be enough. She'll now have to pay off a 150k mortgage instead of a 80k. Now isn't the time to buy a house with the prices as they are.
