I wasn't the biggest fan of the classic Scooby Doo cartoon. By the time I got to it, it was pretty dated, so none of the jokes or references really made sense to me. BUT I did love that one special where they went to the zombie island- I can't remember what it's called and I'm not able to look it up. But that was a really fun episode!

Boss Baby. It was... surprisingly entertaining! The story was absolutely ridiculous, but the animation was AMAZING! The kids are all soft and squishy and adorable and I couldn't stop admiring their EYES! :vanora_heart: Suspend that disbelief and enjoy the ride.

I LOOOVED the Powerpuff Girls in elementary school! I even bought these little PPG magnets sets that featured all the characters, and you could arrange them to show a scene. I got them so when I got into high school, I'd stick them on my locker lmao.

...Then I kind of grew up and got into other stuff, but kept those little magnets. And when I went to high school, they went right on my locker!

I found out a little while back that they rebooted PPG! I was all excited, ready to relive some childhood memories, and then I was deeply and thoroughly disappointed.

Me too! Though, 4 doesn't offer customizable clothing like textures and patterns. They do have a lot of different color options with their clothes, but they're pre-installed. You won't be able to color them, yourself without mods :(

I've never actually played FNAF, but I've watched other people livestream playing it lmao. I had considered it, but then the huge fan following, the merch, and sequels turned me off.

It's still really fun to watch other people play it though :p

It's a lot more restrictive than other Sims gens, so it's definitely not the BEST version lol. Sims 3 was the best, even with the puddingfaces.

If you get the chance to try 4, I'd say go ahead. It brings a few new ideas to the table that don't *quite* make up for lack of content, but it helps :)

...And I specify movies because I don't have cable and have never watched Disney channel :vanora_sweat:

Are y'all Disney and/or Pixar fans? I think most people grew up with them. What was your favorite movie?

I was never really a huuuge fan of the princesses, but Moana changed that for me, I think (though she explicitly states she's NOT a princess...?) A likable, goal-driven protagonist who solves her own problems not with violence, but compassion!

My favorite classic Disney films are probably Tarzan, Hunchback, and Treasure Planet, though :p

Is there anyone here who also plays The Sims (1,2,3,4)? I've played different installations throughout my childhood and recently (~a year or so ago) got into playing again when Sims 3 went on sale on Steam. Got the whole series for about $60. Then when my game started getting reeeally bogged down (10+ minute startup time, more freezing than playing in-game, random crashing), I decided to just retire 3 and bought Sims 4.

It runs soooo muuuuch smooother. I didn't know what anything above 15 FPS looked like in a Sims game until 4. Sure I miss the open world and the freedom with editing neighborhoods and placing lots anywhere, but look and feel of 4 is so much better! I just wish EA wouldn't be so stingy with their content and actually release expansions faster...
lmfao I love Milo, he sounds like a handful. How has Sam managed to keep him from going full Tony Stark with his powers?

Edit: follow up question, do you have a link to your webcomic?

So, I finished this book a couple of weeks ago, so I've had some time to process it. I've never seen the show, and don't really plan to watch it, so I can't draw any parallels between them and if you do, you won't be spoiling anything for me.

Let me just say... This book wasn't what I expected. I don't like to read too much about a book's plot before reading the book because it will warp my initial impression. I knew the name and the general idea- a young-ish woman working for the upperclass during a time of patriarchy.

What I expected was a historical fiction along the same lines as The Help. What I got was a dystopian future controlled by a strictly religious society. Honestly, I didn't see that coming. Maybe I should have looked a LITTLE more into the plot, because... I didn't really like it.

The Handmaid's Tale is yet another first-person account of an alternate world from the perspective of a quiet, perceptive young woman. She's not exceptionally smart, pretty, or talented- she's just an ordinary person in an extreme reality (Katniss? Tris? Hell, even Bella?). This... I found to be pretty boring, unfortunately. Maybe it makes a great TV show, I'll never know, but this perspective isn't new.

It's a fascinating and surprisingly violent world (seriously, bodies are hanging from hooks around town as a warning to rebels) that we don't get to dive into because the narrator is too reserved. She doesn't take enough risks for us to really get the full experience. I found myself wishing it was narrated from Moira's or Ofglen's point of view. To see more of this world and how the characters interact with it and with each other- that's exciting! Instead, we get Offred, who somehow takes a religious dystopia and makes it bland.

And then, when something exciting finally happens- when she gets taken away by authorities who may either be the police or the rebellion- the book ends. What?? AND?? What happens? It's like if The Hunger Games was a book of just the first act and ends when Katniss volunteers as tribute. WHY would you end it there?

Sigh. I guess if a book filled with passive observations of an interesting world is your thing, then fine. I'd rather read something with a little more action.

Your thoughts?
