Thanks for the answers. I had no idea that magic rendered most modern tech useless.
At least the events of HP seem to be over by the 2000's. That'd mean by the time I was 11, I'd go to Hogwarts after Harry and before his sons. Sounds like a golden era of normal magicking.

I just finished the HP books a while back, and have a few questions.
If you're an American, can you attend Hogwarts or are you restricted to the American campus? (haven't watched the new movies with the Newt dude)
Why are wizards a secret?
Why did tech in the wizarding world stop right before the industrial revolution?
In the books, are all the characters wearing witch hats? I remember a scene where Harry is so tired that he accidentally tries to put his hat on his foot like a sock.
Does anyone else feel really bad for the other students who went to Hogwarts at the same time as Harry? Seems like their experiences were miserable with all the government takeovers, lockdowns, invasions, unstable teachers, and literal monsters roaming the school.
Also, I really, really would want to be in Ravenclaw then go on to work with magical animals. That sounds like a dream.
