I have a Facebook but never sign on unless mom tells me she shared something funny. I also have an Instagram and a Twitter that I'm hoping to post art on after I work on my style a little more.

No idea how to use Snapchat or Reach.

@Totalanimefan: No idea how you're pulling that off. I find coding hard and frustrating. Plus, you're going back to school to code AND you're still working 3 times a week? Hopefully when you finish at the school your days will be substantially easier and with better pay :p

@nyreen: saaammmee. They had so many little accessories and kick knacks. Memories.

@Robyn: I never had one myself but I remember the commercials for them. Do you remember those little dolls with the blank faces? They came with markers so you could draw her face on yourself. She also had Velcro wigs lol

UPDATE

It was still in my yard this morning. It was breathing and had its eyes closed, but it must be injured. Not sure if my cat hurt it or if I injured it when I yeeted it across the yard last night.

Here's a video of me poking it this morning: https://i.imgur.com/Eg9jI55.gifv

It'll probably be dead by the time I get home tonight.

@nyreen: BATS? Dude I would FREAK. You are so brave.

@Lady Luna: If we notice any more I'll definitely try the peanut butter thing. My husband wants to put out traps or poison but my cat is such a dumbass we'd probably just end up at the emergency vet. Rats and mice make cute pets, but they cross into pest territory when they invade my house.

@stubbornkimchi: lmao I just got an image of a fat cartoon mouse getting stuck in your door like Winnie the Pooh.

@Totalanimefan: glad you liked it. Storytelling is my specialty.

@Lady Luna: I saw a YouTube video a while back where the guy used a huge bowl with oil at the bottom to catch mice. They would be attracted to it, fall in, and it was too slippery to get out. He caught like 10 mice.

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to getting bit, so I was super careful while handling him. I've been bitten by hamsters before and that wasn't fun. Can't imagine a mouse.

I had high hopes for this series and binge read all three within a week or so. I can't say I'm super disappointed, but I'm not happy. I'm just... Meh.

The universe is fascinating. Spoilers, obviously.

So what I really liked was how the entire city the story takes place in is a social experiment/genetic healing center. It's completely cut off from the rest of society, from history, from everything. The city is basically its own little world with a hidden observer. People have told me this is basically Maze Runner, but I haven't read it yet, so it's new to me.

What I also really like is WHY they're all trapped in the city. Genetic healing. It's revealed in the third book that in the past, people used genetic alteration tools to snip out "undesirable" personality traits. This lead to basically a collapse in human social functionality. That's WHY most people, when they take the sorting hat district test, have an aptitude for only one faction. It's basically sorting people into genetic groups. It's interesting. Then along comes Tris, the divergent, who has an aptitude for at least 3 factions. Like a normal human being with intact, human personality traits. She's genetically healed. She's the goal of the experiment.

Buuuttt there's also a lot of stuff that I don't like.

If the established universe is so technologically advanced, why do they have to use a knife to draw blood and bleed on their chosen faction? This is a place that is WELL beyond genetic editing. And what's with all the needles? Does Veronica Roth have a thing for them? Maybe it's just me. It seems unnecessarily barbaric for such an advanced society and doesn't add to the story imo.

I also dislike how long it took for the plot to get moving. The entire first book is just Tris choosing her faction and training. It didn't need to be three books, honestly. It could have all fit into one and worked just fine (and saved me hours).

Finally, there's the problem that pretty much everyone points out: it is a mashup of all these other, more interesting stories. Society is actually an experiment overseen by a hidden government? Maze Runner. There's a "big brother" entity intimidating you into obeying them, and if you think or feel differently than what the entity approves of, you are killed? 1984. Society is divided up into different factions based on personality? Harry Potter. Strong, stoic female protagonist leads a rebellion against a sadistic and ruthless government? Hunger Games. There's probably more, but those are just what comes to mind right now.

If you have a lot of time on your hands and like futuristic dystopias, I'd say give at least the first book a read. I had to force myself to get through the last two books rather than just looking up a synopsis online because there was sooo much fucking filler.

This post ran long. Sorry

Just a few minutes ago. I heard my old cat jingling and this high pitched squeaking noise. I knew she was probably chasing the mouse that lives in the basement.

I got out of bed and checked out the noise. Yup, old cat was sitting in front of my sneakers, starting them down. Great. Mouse in my shoes. I kicked one of them over and a tiny mouse scampered between my legs. Cat chased it.

Little bastard must have been tired, or maybe just playing dead because it stopped in its tracks the middle of the room. Cat stopped too and stared it down. Useless.

I grabbed a leftovers container and trapped it. Cat was miffed. I yelled for my husband to show him my catch (and woke him up out of a sound sleep- he wasn't impressed). Then, I threw the tiny pest out into the front yard. He landed on his back, still playing dead. Like a drama queen.

I'm sure he'll make his way back into the house by morning. I don't want to have to kill him myself, so I'm hoping an owl does my dirty work for me.

Cat is still miffed and giving me the cold shoulder. Husband is grumping hard because I woke him up. I can't sleep because adrenaline, so I'm sharing this with you all.

Thanks for reading.

Damn I haven't seen Bob's burgers in a while. Tina gets on my nerves so bad lol

My favorite snack is a good ole honeybun. Can't eat them very often cuz they mess with my stomach but god are they good.

I loved playing with Polly Pocket dolls. That was my shit. The ones with the plastic hair and the little rubber clothes. It was the bomb, man. There's still a little box of them in a closet in my parents' house.

On a related note, this topic reminded me of Trevor Noah talking about his favorite toy growing up in South Africa. Give it a watch, it's really funny.

@nyreen: They're really creative! I def wouldn't be able to come up with a non-human race lol. I'll ping you next weekend when I get started. If there are any changes to them between now and then, just lmk :)

@Saeyra: thanks! I might make a perma shop down the road with more to offer than just little sketch doodles like these.

@nyreen: I'm finished for the weekend, but if you want I'll open up again next weekend and work on them :) I like their designs. I like Asha and Wren in particular- they remind me of Zoras from the Zelda series!

@kiwi: daemyn's design is right up my alley. I just wish I knew what his pants looked like :p

@Haven: here ya go! Something cute and sweet! :)
