@Colin: Not much, I don't think, for Modern anyway. I am DEFINITELY putting together a Prosper, Tome-Bound deck for Commander though. We played around with the Precon decks today and Prosper was very consistently putting in a lot of work straight out of the box, and that was without modifying. I kinda want to build a Modern Sultai control deck using ramp to get to Xanathar with stuff like Growth Spiral and Wilderness Reclamation (since I can play their stuff on my turn with Xan and then untap and play my control spells on their turn with WR). I know at least two people are putting Tiamat together for Commander too.

@Totalanimefan: Lol yeah, doesn't sound like it. But hey, at least you walked! I did a whole lot of Magic and that was it, so good on you :)

@Colin: He might not be good on a higher level than against other precons, but against the other three out of the box precons he was ridiculous. The first game we played I ended up killing (by myself) three players, and then on the other few games I became arch enemy pretty quickly and ended up putting up a pretty good fight. His "draw" engine coupled with the fact that he ramps you as well, and gets weird synergistic value out of even playing Lands that he exiles, is pretty strong. I like to think Birgi, God of Storytelling will be a VERY strong addition, along with some better fast mana. Hellish Rebuke is freaking NUTS as I'm sure you can imagine, and the Rat side-strategy with Piper and Ogre Slumlord ended up also being pretty good. Chaos Wand is another card that just really synergizes with Prosper, and Wild-Magic Sorcerer is pretty gross all things considered. I obviously didn't end up seeing all the cards in the deck in my matches, but it felt strong, very Midrangey value-town out of the box.

He's a 1/4 Deathtouch that definitely feels like he needs to die every time he hits the board, and with all the Treasures you make I was even casting him for 12 mana pretty easily.

@Colin: It does definitely seem like they've stepped up their game a LOT with this cycle. I did see quite a few strong cards from all of the decks, and a few really good reprints (Heroic Intervention from the Bant one, for example, as well as the Rakdos Talisman in Prosper). Yeah he's fun, for sure, and I like that there's more cards than just a couple of lands I'll be considering putting into the actual deck. Also, Underdark Rift is AWESOME! It's a really good Commander land that they included in Prosper (not sure if it's in all of them).

@Colin: LOL! I hadn't even thought of that, but I'm not a Standard player so it doesn't affect me much even if it's not great. Hopefully it won't be bad though.

@Colin: Fair enough! Lol! Who knows, some budget Modern decks and some crazy Commander decks might come out of this. I kinda like some of the dice rolling cards in Prosper even. One is a board wipe, you roll two dice, deal damage to each creature equal to one result, and then make the other result into treasures.

@SorrowTheMad: good luck getting those chapters out! How’s the writing process going? I… am not ready to share my novel with anyone just yet, but maybe soon. It’s still in its very rough form XD


@Totalanimefan: Three years is a long way to be away from home! Or do you not think of it as home anymore?
It shouldn’t affect my IVF, unless it turns out to be serious and I need chemotherapy or something, which might mean I have to freeze my eggs or something beforehand, but I don’t think it will be serious. It’s probably nothing, I have a history of hypochondria XD
