"....." Hal was silent again.

"Those bastards." he growled.

'Their leader escaped from what I heard... I will find him and make him pay.' he thought. 'He's made too many suffer, and now it's personal. I will find him, and make him pay.' he vowed further.

"We'll get you a new one." he told her.

"You were due for an upgrade, anyway." he reasoned.

"For now, just focus on getting your strength and energy back."

A few seconds later, she heard the teacher approach her.

"Good lord!" he exclaimed.

"Lunet, are you all right!?" he asked her, before looking out to the others.

"Watch where you're kicking the ball!" he barked at them.

"Why didn't anyone call out to her!?" he then exclaimed.

"I tried!" one of the students, one she'd become decent friends with, replied. "But I couldn't shout quick enough!" they added.

"Wonderful." the teacher grumbled.

"Lunet, how are you?" he asked her again.

"...." the teacher was silent for a moment.

"First thing I'm doing is having you see the school nurse." he told her.

"Then we'll get Cain or your father to bring you home." he said.

With that, she was taken to the nurse, and examined.

"...so you just have a headache?" she asked Lunet.

"Nothing else? No feelings of dizziness or lightheadedness or anything?" she asked further.

"....all right." the nurse replied.

"We'll get someone here to pick you up." she told her.

Sure enough, about 3-4 minutes later, someone was there, and Lunet heard Cain's familiar voice.

"Holy crap, Lunet!" he exclaimed.

"What the hell happened??" he asked her.

"I was told you were injured, and should be taken home." Cain responded.

"...but a soccer ball to the face, huh?" he then asked. "Well... that makes sense." he commented.

"You really look like it. And your Dad is NOT gonna be happy." he muttered.

"Yeah, you got a hell of a shiner goin' on there." he told her.

"Looks like it's gonna be a bad one."

Cain just sighed.

"We'll see." he said.

"That's all I can say." he told her.

With that, he used his mana and teleported her back home, alongside himself, and they appeared in the den of the place.

"All right." he said.

"There anything you want?" he asked her.

"Something to eat? Drink? Some mana meds to help with the headache you have?" he offered.

"No interruptions." Cain replied.

"Seriously. I was here." he told her.

"I'm a live-in sitter. I was here in case an emergency came up, or whatever." he continued.

"I'm more than happy to help whenever I'm needed." he assured her further.

"All that matters is that YOU'RE okay."

"I.... yeah..." Cain muttered.

"Can't... promise anything in THAT sense..." he admitted.

"Odds are they're contacting him right now. I was the first contact, seeing as I'm always available, but he IS your father, and they'll be contacting-" he went on, before he was interrupted by a burst of mana at the front door.

"Lunet!?" Hal exclaimed, concern and anger in his tone.

"......him." Cain finished.

"Speak of the devil." he mumbled.

"Got it." Cain replied.

He then quickly exited through one of the doorways, as Hal rushed into the other one.

"Lunet!" he exclaimed, as he raced over towards her.

"My lord, your eye!" he said.

"Who did this to you!?" he demanded, anger in his tone.

"Who's going to pay for this!?"

Even though Lunet couldn't see, she could feel her father's anger.

"...excuse me?" he asked.

"Someone did this to you." he said.

"From everything you've told me, this wouldn't have been an accident, yes?" he reasoned.

"And I refuse to let someone get away with assaulting my daughter." he reasoned.

"Why are you protecting them?" he asked.
