Forums General Chit-Chat Atoning for my sins

Donator Posted 6 years ago ( 2018/10/12 22:28:55 )
I think I'm atoning for the sins of my past lives through teaching children how to computer.

*bangs head against wall*

How are you atoning for your sins today?

Have you tried atoning for your sins by teaching people 60+ how to computer, though?

@Millet: That reminds me of a funny commercial we had in my country once. One of the things was "put your computer mouse in the left corner of your screen". They then picked up the mouse and put it in the left corner XD

Ugh, I try to help my Father-in-Law with simple computer things.
I don't mind that he doesn't know, I mind how irrationally angry
he gets at not knowing what to do.

Like if I say "Click the link"

he just starts clicking the mouse a hundred times on nothing/didn't hover over to the link
and I'm like "No pops, the link is the blue text" and he'll respond like "WELL WHY DOES IT SAY H T T P
FORWARD SLASH W W W DOT FACE
....AND NOT LINK. That's just idiotic!" *slams fist* *runs out of breath*

whew-ee.

My dad can do a lot of stuff himself but he has also no problem messing things up. He's like help why does my folder look like this! So I come over and me is like "how the hell did you get it to look like that".

Ah yes... the younger crowd does not get angry about not knowing how to do it, but the older ones definitely do.
Most of the time you just have to show the kids one time and then for the others, i can assign another kid to show them how to use it.
My coworkers get really mad when they can't figure out their tech and get so cranky.

Today I have to atone for my sins by somehow posting 16 more times god help me

I often end up having to teach my parents how to do things like use apps and set up online accounts for things like paying bills, insurance, etc. And I don't mind; in general they learn pretty fast, but MAN some of these apps/websites are so poorly designed and unintuitive that I get frustrated with it. I can't blame them for not knowing how to work it.

@luffer nutter: I teach math normally, but when the lesson is online the "hidden curriculum" comes out. That's all the stuff that doesn't involve your subject, but they need to know to complete it.

@hachi: I felt like making 12 topics was torture. XD Good luck on your quest!
