I didn't start completing art until January of this year.
So that's why.
Past 2-3 years I've been in a really bad place with my depression.
But this year I'm slowly getting past that.

I'm also not very quick and still very lacking in many of my fundamentals. :vanroa_sweat:

So it won't be published anytime soon.

I see. *nods* I'm sorry if you've been in a bad place for past 2-3 years *gives you a virtual hug* And that's alright, not everyone is quick as a lighting and imo it's better to take it slow and steady.

    social media and algorithms put pressure on artists to draw fast and post frequently which sucks :/
    take your time and go at your own pace 👏

Oof. That sounds very hectic indeed. And I agree with you.

@ChiffonOrange: its fine, it's expected from a lot things that has happened past ten years.

I'm not wanting to be fast just so I can go along with algorithms but more so
so I can draw more than 1 pose in a day.
It's more so a personal goal.

I love the idea of a hangout for creators!! <3

I do a bit of writing and digital art! What program do you use for your digital art? :)

@CheshireCat: Hi and that's really interesting :o
I mainly use MS Paint and rarely Medibang. What about you?

@CheshireCat: Welcome!
I use to do a lot of writing before art.

I use clip studio paint for my work.

@chiffonorange: I would love to get medibang just to try it out, but the UI looks intense. But I use Open Canvas 7! :) I've been experimenting with Paint Tool SAI, but I haven't made anything that I like yet.

@moodybats: Thank you!! :) I've seen some amazing stuff come from clip studio paint! :0

What kind of things do you guys like to draw?

@CheshireCat: I see :o I heard of Paint Tool Sai before but wasn't a fan of it ^_^; and I mostly draw fanart and sometimes original characters

@CheshireCat: Clip studio paint is so good to use.
Before i used medibang but clip studio i feel has a lot more variety in the type of their basic preset brushes
and has many other options for their settings.

I like to draw girls, making new character designs.
I mostly enjoy eerie art and occult stuff like demons, vampires, etc.

How about you?

Seconding CSP. It's def an upgrade from all the freeware I've tried. Though I'm still really fond of FireAlpaca for sketching

I kept hearing good things about Clip Studio Paint. What are the pros and cons of it? :o

@chiffonorange: Paint tool sai is definitely not easy, and is not my main program. >< But you're the reverse of me! :0 I draw my OC's almost all the time, with fanart as the occasional.

@moodybats: I've been playing a lot of DND thanks to the quarantine, so I draw my characters! I have a good portion of them drawn, but still soooo many to go ><
I would LOVE to be good at drawing occult/eerie stuff. I'm inspired by Bloodborne and HP Lovecraft all the time, but nothing I draw really captures what's in my mind. It makes me so sad ;(

@CheshireCat: Oh, I see and sorry for misunderstanding you ^_^; I understand everyone has their favourite art program as their main and really? :o Hmmm.... I guess maybe this is due to me being interested drawing fanart than OCs at the moment haha

    CSP user here
    i draw lots of fanart but recently more OCs plus comics

    i like csp's manga features and the user assets library
    and there are specific tools that make drawing a lot easier like the lasso fill that makes colouring a lot faster, perspective rulers that make bsing backgrounds a lot easier, etc.

    also if you get it on sale it's suuuuper worth it imo

@CheshireCat: Oooo awesome!
You'd think quarintine would've made me draw more but it really hasn't. I've been into this particular fanart piece
for over a month now lol. :vanora_sweat:
But the outcome is really good so that's at least good.

It's hard to draw what you picture in your mind. 90% of the time things don't come out
how I imagined them.
My eerie/occult art always comes out cute...which is not my intention at all lmao.

@ChiffonOrange: Basically what Pachi said. It's designed to help digital artists not just be a tool box you have to dig through. I got mine half off on a black friday sale, totally worth it

Excuse my intrusion, thought I'd come hangout here.

I'm Bear, and I do digital art every so often.
My tools of the trade are SAI, an old Wacom Bamboo and a whole lot of stubbornness.

I used to draw more in the past but motivation to start or finish anything has been rather lacking the last few years.
(I thought quarantine, IG challenges and MerMay would give me some motivation but I didn't finish a single thing I started until today.)
It's a love-hate relationship for me; I need a lot more practice and frankly my fundamentals are garbage, but I'm one of those people who can't self teach or practice efficiently so getting better is an insanely slow and frustrating process. I crave a proper education haha.

I much prefer spying on other people's artworks and wondering if I can get better at drawing by eating their art.
Already tried selling my soul, didn't work.
