I think you can do whatever you want, have fun and learn xD Even on the website there is an area where it says that inktober is teamed up with autodesk sketchbook. Which is digital. Overall it's similar to other monthly/weekly challenges, ya know. Like, its' about getting into a good habit, learning, and just doing.
I've done both tradigitional with pens/ink. I've also waterered down the ink for a nice wash. And then I've also done some digitally.

I think it doesn't really matter? You're drawing and that's the whole experience of it? Doesn't matter what you draw or what you're drawing on!

Cheering each other on is the number one reason I joined this thread! It always helps to have others doing the same thing to push yourself forward. I figured if I joined this, then it'll remind me/push me to complete it. All while making friends and having fun :D
