That's a good point, 2 is also on the table. Crossroads have a pretty similar connotation to a fork though, so I still like the maze/labyrinth.
the swirl doesnt look like a maze or labyrinth though, they're all darting off in different directions when the swirl is just one direction. i dont see how it visualizes confusion. but thats just me.
