It's safe to say that this year has been a nightmare of a roller coaster. Many have stopped asking how it can get any worse out of worry that the universe might pull a 'hold my beer' moment. I just wanted to know the different ways people have been cheering themselves up~

Gosh that’s a tough one. I feel like the answer is different for a lot of people.
Sometimes I do have to take a step back from the news and twitter. I want to stay informed and not have to be ‘something that’s happening to others’ but my mental health is important too.

So far I’ve spent my time making sure I go for a neighborhood walk once a day near sunset. I listen to music, I play video games. I do watch anime too but I find that doesn’t engage me enough. I also keep in touch with friends and family.

**** (> ^ w ^ <) ****

Playing Sims 4 made me to feel more relaxed or a bit happy sometimes. Also drawing and watching funny videos on YT.

It depends on the person tbh and everyone has ways to cheer themselves up.

Idk about it cheering me up, but running makes me feel better.

It does take a lot of convincing to actually get dressed to run, but during and after, I feel better.

I consider it training for the unexpected 🤣

Spending time with my rats always cheers me up. That and writing. I have written so much during this lockdown :)

Playing games with friends online or drawing has helped cheer me up. Cooking has also been nice.

Leave him alone

Watch movies. Or specifically I rewatch some of my favorites. If all else fails, I watch Achievement Hunter videos. Nothing like sarcastic humor to chase the unhappies away.

I watch a lot of youtube to cheer myself up, particularly comedic channels. Helps me sort of disconnect but it isn't as lengthy as like, a normal tv show that I would just end up spacing out and not paying attention to. My sad-brain attention span is itty bitty.

I recently learned of WILTY? and it is my source of joy this week
buncha silly british comedians telling stories and they gotta determine if its a truth or a lie, but they're all entirely ridiculous

@SnakeWeaver: I don't know if it's "cheering myself up" or just "not getting sucked in to the pit of doom and despair" but I've been largely ignoring social media as well as the news in an attempt to keep my sanity. Yes, I'm checking in periodically, of course, but I'm choosing my moments carefully and limiting the time spent wading through the layers of bullsh*t that seem to be everywhere. Otherwise, I'm just trying to be productive at home, doing things that need attention and doing a few things that bring solace and distraction from the world's woes.

@Wildfire: Then you probably don't want to know what official court documents anonymous released on trump. Will you be trying any of the things listed in the thread~?

I guess i'll say what I do. Cute images of animals, cute videos of animals, writing, and art are ways I release stress and depression. video games can be soothing, but they are more a distraction than anything else.

@SnakeWeaver: Awww, that's sweet! <3 Sorry to have worried you. I am reasonably well-adjusted to life, but the recent levels of craziness in the world are a bit much to bear on a regular basis even for the most stable of us (IMO)! I'm doing fine, but I definitely appreciate the concern and the compassion <3
