exactly :D or spend like all savings on a tablet, that maybe worked in some art programs xD but it was mostly a slight upgrade to a mouse

I don't even remember what I used back then except for PScs2 and a drawing tablet. And before that, it was mostly edited traditional art, since it was possible to convert the hand drawn to lineart without much issue.

there are many options to an Ipad

i got a surface pro 3 a few years back and it is not doing well 8( even after a fresh reformat it was chugging along on a drawing less than 1000x1000 pixels. it makes me scared of going the surface route again

my very first tablet.. i don't even remember what it was, similar to monoprice but not that exact brand. later upgrade to a wacom bamboo for college, then a monoprice 6x10 which i still have around here somewhere. Paint Tool SAI was my fave but it's not compatible with my surface T_T

my first tablet was a bamboo wacom tablet.
though i practically had 0 pen pressure.
but back then i didn't draw digitally. I just did pixel art.

Though that tablet lasted for 8 years.
2018 i finally got myself a good tablet. Which was the huion giano.
I've had it for 2-3 years. I used my graduation money as I graduated summer of 2018 from GED.

Though now I am planning to buy XP Pen's 06 star tablet because it's wireless, only requires 2 hours
and no pen charging. And much smaller so it'll fit easier on my desk.

Current one I have, Huion giano is Huion's largest Non-display tablet. I think it's around 13.8 inches long.
So it takes up so much room on my desk.
Though the giano takes 7 hours to charge and the pen also needs charging.

I love my Wacom intuos pro
it's small but not too small (I got the medium) though I do need a rather deep desk to fit it and my keyboard xD... and 2 screens...

I've been eying the XP-pen displays, may get it as an option for when I'm not working at home and only got my latop

I've got an intuos small about 5 years ago and I wish I had bumped up a size. My hands get so cramped lol. Still miss my bamboo TT_TT

i'm dreading when my surface eventually slows down and slowly starts to die LOL...

    my old faithfuls

    • graphire 3 (2004-2009) gave it to friend
    • intuos 4 medium (2009 - present)
    • ugee display tablet (2015 - present) lent it to friend
    • intuos pro small (2017 - present)
    • surface pro (2018 - present)

the ugee one was my first real experience drawing on a screen and i hated it because i could never find a comfortable setup skdkfjkdjf

@Lilykin: yeah to small tablets can get really difficult
same with big ones xD

I had an L size for a while and damn my shoulder felt like it was breaking at some point.

Oh dear, it sounds like you had a struggle with a large tablet o.o

This is coming from a person who never owned one.

my first tablet was also a bamboo ^^ i actually still have it despite moving many times / around the country over the years!
i used it for a painting last year and it still worked nicely, i think i've had it for at least a decade, maybe around 2008 ??

i haven't tried using it super recently so i'm not sure if it's compatible w catalina on mac, but i am thinking of breaking it back out :-)

what have people being using to paint w lately?? i had an old version of photoshop but it doesn't work with catalina anymore

Oh, that's very cool! What do you like to draw? It's alright if you don't have to answer, I understand.

And I don't mean to sound dumb but what is Catalina? ^_^;

Ah I see. :o *nods* I used Sai once during in my teens but I'm not very familiar with the UI haha and if I'm being honest, I'm not a fan of Photoshop since that program is more of a photo editing program to me.

@ChiffonOrange: Right! I use it for the final touches and rendering. Not to mention it does give a lot of saving options compared to many other art programs.

I wouldn't say SAI is the best but it is easy to use and requires little ram. But adding brushes is manual work, like editing files and copy and pasting it into folders.

@Ayakashi: That is reasonable. And I see, the whole adding brushes stuff isn't my cup of tea unless you wanted a whole set of brushes for each drawing you're planning to do. :o

@ChiffonOrange: ah yeah it's a struggle xD
I have many brushes that I just copy and tweak a little.

I am not very well versed in artprograms for mac...
@MoodyBats: can't wait to see her when she ain't bald then :)
I did a doodle yesterday to that wasn't a commission so I'm proud xD
