So my friend gave me an Amazon Echo for free randomly and now I have full sonic control of our bedroom... much to my boyfriend's annoyance.

@Anarchist Beauty: Technically that was how long she had the screws and metal plate inside her leg, but yeah. She hasn't been able to put weight on it since valentine's day, barring one day when the doctor let her take about five or so steps on her own as a test. She's been a real champ, though. It's a good thing she likes watching television or else we'd be in trouble lol.

Though, she's starting to run out of streaming services...

I'm finally back home! OTL

It was nice to see my family and all but what with my mom's current medical condition, (context: she broke her ankle back in Feburary and only just now got surgery to get the cast off, basically.) things were really stressful. My dad is a total worrywort, and while I understand his anxiety, he's not very good at showing it in a healthy manner. So I was really drained... @_@ That combined with the fact that the medical community in the area is all kinds of messed up thanks to the hurricane, and doctors straight up forget about her constantly.

Luckily though, she finally got in contact with someone and she's doing well. So long as they remember her follow up...

Buuuuut, I got to have fried oysters and scallops for the first time in ages, so that was nice. ^_^

How is everyone doing!

@Bioshock: I ran into that issue too. Though I enjoyed the way the quest and crafting systems work, so if I do go back, I'll likely focus mostly on that stuff.

I can't speak on the RP communities in IRE games, but I've heard a lot through r/MUD that they're pretty nice.

As for GenesisMUD, there was nothing wrong with the tutorial at all! It just goes on for a long time, and I lose my interest by then, since I'm stuck all alone. XD But it worked well and the writing for the rooms and NPCs was nice enough.

I've heard DiscworldMUD is good at acclimatizing people who aren't familiar with the books, but I didn't play for all that long, so I could avoid running into something that spoils the books for me.

And uhh, I think Adventure Zone goes off of the 4e or 5e version of Forgotten Realms, so a lot of story elements would be different (Forgotten Kingdoms was made in the 90s so it follows AD&D and 3.5e's versions and then diverges itself due to rp events) but they have a Discord server that could probably answer any confusion you would have if the MUD seems interesting to you!

@Kitalpha Hart: Yeah, that always sucks... D:

@Kitalpha Hart: Weird... maybe it was a client for an existing game? The only game with name remotely like that that I ca think of is maybe... idk, Materia Magica?
Posted in MUDs Posted 4 years ago

@Kitalpha Hart: possibly. Maybe some kid made it as a test project and then deleted it later when not many people played it?
Posted in MUDs Posted 4 years ago

@Kitalpha Hart: I searched both maid and maiden, but didn't find anything. I probably didn't look deep enough, though.
Posted in MUDs Posted 4 years ago

@Kitalpha Hart: Yeah, that's true. You'd only need it if you wanted to play it again.
Posted in MUDs Posted 4 years ago

@Kitalpha Hart: Probably not. If it's on Kongregate, that means it's a flash game and Flash isn't a thing that can run on mobile phones.

@Bioshock: Yeah, IRE's MUDs are really complex, especially on the combat side. Also, if you want to make a goal of being the strongest or the best in PVP, it requires not only a lot of time to train to that level and practically a coding degree, but also... actual money. :/

But if you want to just hang around and rp, I've heard Aetolia is actually one of the best ones! (I plan on trying it again in the future, since I love gothic settings.)

As for the best and most user friendly... hmm. I suppose it depends. Achaea has a good initial tutorial, but it quickly gets bogged down with information and what not, similar to the issue you ran into with Aetiolia. Drowning in help files can be really common in MUDs, unfortunately.

GenesisMUD is also very user-friendly. It has a separate world initially for newbies with lower level enemies and signposts around to guide you. I found myself less confused in it than I was in IRE's games. I haven't met anyone ingame there though, since I never fully finished the tutorial... ^^;

If you're familiar with the book series, DiscworldMUD is pretty nice. I also haven't left the tutorial there, but it's been interesting! I'm just waiting to read more of the books before I go back.

Forgotten Kingdoms is also a fandom-based MUD, this time based off of the Forgotten Realms D&D setting. It's a bit weird to get used to but they have a very nice and tight knit community. I get confused with the game sometimes, but their personal Discord is very welcoming!

Bumping this now that I'm back on the site consistently~<3

@Kitalpha Hart: It just seems so strange to have a MUD on a Flash game site, but who knows lol. I know BatMUD is on Steam now (I haven't tried it, but I will admit, I am curious.) so it's not like seeing MUDs among other video games isn't too strange...

@Kitalpha Hart: a mud on kongreate?? That's new to me. Do you remember what it was called?
