"All right." Jake replied with a small sigh.

"Sorry to have bugged you." he apologised.

"If I detained you from anything, I didn't mean to. It was clear that you were just finishing up." he commented further.

"I just wanted to know if there was any info." he reasoned.

"Here's hoping something happens." he then said.

"For the better, that is."

"This is true." Jake muttered.

-About a month or so later-

The girl seemed to have recovered, and had been moved to one of the dorms there, as it seemed she had nowhere to go, and also seemed like she wouldn't be a threat to anyone or anything while there.

She still wasn't speaking, though. She seemed quite reserved and introverted, to the point of almost being a hermit.

And Hal and Angela were having a meeting about that.

"...so what you're saying is that she may need professional help." Hal commented.

"Hmmm." he mumbled.

"We'll need to get a specialist in, then."

"Hmmmmmmm." Hal mumbled.

"...wait." he said.

"I think I know someone we can get in on short notice." he commented.

"We just need to speak with Kiah." he told her.

"Isn't her cousin a psychologist?' he asked.

"He might be able to help us."

Hal nodded in response.

"Please." he said.

"If you would be so kind." he told her.

Sure enough, shortly after Angela left, there was a knock on his door.

"Enter!" he called.

And it was Kiah that entered.

"Ah, Kiah, please, have a seat." Hal offered her.

"I need a favour from you." Hal responded.

"The wood elf that we've taken in isn't talking to anyone. She seems to not trust anyone, either." he told her.

"And the specialists we have here at the Unit aren't helping." he went on.

"Your cousin is a psychologist, right?" he asked. "And a damn good one, yeah?" he continued.

"Do you think you could call him into here to try and help her ASAP?" he asked.

"We'll be sure to compensate him for short notice, of course."

Hal just chuckled.

"That's all I ask." he told her.

"Normally I would call him and make an official request, but red tape must be followed under those circumstances." he explained. "And we want this girl to get the help she needs ASAP." he reasoned.

"So please, anything you can do to help would be wonderful." he continued.

"And if there's any way I can help with that, let me know." he added.

"Whatever works for you." Hal replied.

"You know you have a flexible schedule, as long as you get the results in, and keep the gears moving smoothly." he told her.

"Wait, go now, whichever you feel is the best time to get ahold of him." he continued.

"And... that's really it." he said.

"Unless you have something to bring up with me, I think we're done here." he concluded.

"Thank you once again." he finished.

The door was answered... but by the wrong man.

It was her other cousin, the brother of the one she was looking for.

"Oh, hey Kiah." he greeted her, before pausing.

"Ohhhh, hang on a sec..." he said, before they saw a black panther bounding towards her.

However, the man managed to catch the giant feline and scoop it up, completely catching it off guard.

"Been a while since you were here, pretty sure Kitt got excited when she smelled you." he said, putting the feline down. "You know she likes you." he added, as the cat started to lick Kiah's palms.

"But yeah, come in. Haven't had a visit from you in so long." he told her, stepping out of the way so she could enter.

Kitt nuzzled up to Kiah as she scratched behind her ears.

The man thought for a moment, and snapped his fingers.

"Ah! Yeah!" he said.

"He's actually out in the backyard." he told her.

"Don't think he's doing anything, really. Just taking it easy out there." he continued.

"First time in a while." he chuckled.

Ash just chuckled lightly.

"Hmmm." he mumbled.

"Ah!" he exclaimed, snapping his fingers.

"I'll make up those redfin swordfish filets that she likes!" he said, before getting to work... with Kitt hanging around, surely looking for scraps or treats.

Meanwhile, outside, Lindsay was silent for a moment, almost looking like he was asleep, before looking over towards her.

"Kiah?" he asked

"Yeah, sure!" he called back.

He then stretched out, before rolling into the water somewhat gracefully (but with a bit of a splash), and swimming towards her.

"What's up?" he asked when he got to the edge of the pool.
