I did some stuff around the house. There was a big win for housing where I live. Finally a project will move forward on 2400 units of housing. 1200 marked as affordable. I’ve only been fighting for this project since 2016. 🤷♀️
Yes I’m so happy. There was a group of rich old people that for years bullied people at the city council meetings and what repeat lies over and over to try to get people fearful of the project.
What if those 1,200 affordable housing units bring crime?
What who really gets affordable housing units anyway? What if they went to Apple employees (this is half a mile from the new Apple campus, the one that looks like a ring)
And Apple employees, who are mostly male, will try and lure female high schooler to their homes if we build this.
And this is all real. I’m not making any of it up. I could go on and on but they took it to court and the judge wiped the floor with them and is making them pay the legal fees for both sides lol sweet justice has been served!
@Lilykin: thank you. I wish that we could have won sooner because too many people have had to leave this area because of the cost of living. It’s higher than NYC atm.
The average selling price of a home in Cupertino is 2.3 mil. The cheapest home that sold last month was above 1 mil. That was for a condo.
those are a lot of excuses for something that just sounds like a scheme to make sure the neighbourhood stays rich.

Yup you guys all hit the nail on the head. Their homes are worth like 2-3mil but they are like houses built in the 50’s.

I can believe it. We get retired folks from CA. Sell their house for $$$ and buy an equivalent house here for a third :/
i would never pay 1 million for those houses . like i understand wanting something old school but at the same time, it should be at most 3/4th of that

Those are more location pricey than aesthetic pricey. They would be 200-300k here
