Forums General Chit-Chat I have a food allergy

Donator — She/her Posted 5 years ago ( 2019/01/30 21:44:54 )

Yup. On Monday I had some Butter Chicken from a local curry place and I had a reaction to it! It really sucked because I love Butter Chicken~ It's only their version that I've ever had a reaction to, but I don't know what was in it that could have caused it. I've never had a food allergy before. I guess I can't get it anymore :(

Sorry to hear that. You could always get yourself tested for food allergies.

@Totalanimefan: Definitely makes you wonder what the heck was in there that caused a reaction. D:
Especially if you only had that reaction from one restaurant. Yikes.

@Totalanimefan: Doctors often use a combination of skin testing and blood testing to diagnose a food allergy.

If you are fine eating it everywhere else, maybe it's a certain ingredient
that they added in their sauce?

Maybe you can ask them to give you their ingredients list & you could go through the list.

@x: Thank you. I will do that if I get something else from there. I can't eat onions (it's not an allergy) so Butter Chicken was the only thing I could eat. Until now :(

@koneko: thanks. My husband had the rest of the curry and he said it might have just been too spicy. He likes very hot curries and he said it was hot even for him.

What kind of reaction was it? Did you break out? Hard to breathe? Stomach pains?

@Totalanimefan: I have never heard of Butter Chicken, sorry to hear that you are allergic to something that you like.

maybe the butter, or chicken was expired?

@Totalanimefan: Ah that's unfortunate. =( It may be worth doing the test just to know what to avoid. I've never had one myself (I probably should though) but I hear they're not as bad as they used to be. I believe they can just do a blood test. I'm not great with needles either, but after having surgery I can cope with a blood draw once in a while.
