I just rewatched Hairspray last night, and these lyrics have always resonated with me. I’m white, but grow up up my school was just about half white and half black, and I could never understand why people would treat us differently. The color of one’s skin doesn’t mean anything. I think as time goes on, more people seem to realize this. Yes, there is still racism, but we can all do our part for a better tomorrow.
