Lovely story so far. I'm sad I missed the train! But oh I think I know what this puzzle is.. at least at first glance >.>

@Dipper: So far i've tried converting the first line to normal numbers, then to our alphabet (didn't make sense)
Tried the reverse alphabet on that and so far still nothing?
Thought maybe, for example :xxii Maybe every 'letter' in that is separate but, surprise, that didn't work out either
If only i knew how it should be read, because the '-' isn't between every roman number?
So it'd be a help if i figured out how that works :')

Just read through the whole thread, and oh boy, was that a trip, haha. :)
I have a character who loves ciphers, so when I saw this I got really excited, but-
