I pitched the idea to my mom (because I hate travelling alone) and she seemed to be really into it! We live in Jersey now but we use to live in New York. I've been itching to go back and just see what's changed since we've moved like... 17 years ago now. And we could also see my grandmother! And go put flowers on my grandfathers' graves! And go to the beach and see our old houses! It just sounds like a good causal kind of vacation ya know? So I'm kinda excited!

@rheostatic: Dude, that sounds amazing! And it's been such a long time since you moved that yeah, I definitely think it'd be an awesome vacation for you! Kind of get back in touch with your roots, so to speak. Sometimes it's good to remind yourself that places still exist even when we're not inside them, and time still affects them no matter how distant or detached it may seem...
We used to live in Chicago, and it's been about 8-9 years since we moved, so I'm right there too. I'd love to go back and visit some of my old favourite restaurants (hoping they're still there LOL), meet up with some long lost friends, that sort of thing.

@Angelus: Actually we won't be going to New York City at all! Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and Suffix County (Long Island) mostly!

It was crazy how many new fast food buildings and gas stations they've added.

If I want to go to the place where my mother, brother and me grew up and to visit my grandparents' (my mother parents), I just have to cycle a mile and I'm there. XD
