"I did." the nurse replied.
"Rene did most of the work, but I always came in to make sure things were running smoothly." he told her.
"And no need to thank me." he said.
"All part of the job." he smiled.
"Oh, and that ring of traffickers was shut down." he then told her. "Everyone there was taken in, and they're being put through the legal system now." he continued.
"Just thought you'd like to know."

The next day, Eric was sitting on the bed, reading, as she waited for Rene to show up. She knew that he'd likely take a little bit to get her out of there, but she was also well aware of how he'd get her out of there when he did show up.
The question though, was how long it would take.
She'd been reading for about 2 and a half hours, when Rene finally stepped into the room.
"Geez!" he exclaimed.
"The channels here are like a damn maze sometimes." he said.
He then shook his head, looked at Erica, and smiled.
"Hey, you." he greeted her, making his way over.
"I finally managed it." he told her.
"You can leave whenever you want.... as long as it's with me, of course." he informed her with a light chuckle.
"Geez!" he exclaimed.

Erica quirked an eyebrow.

"Wouldn't be surprised if you should know in here like the back of your hand..."
"Yeah, but even now, it still amazes me sometimes." Rene responded.
"And not in a good way." he clarified.
"Regardless, you're good to go." he told her.
"We just need to make sure you don't get worse." he said. "You were really hurt when I found you." he sighed, shaking his head.
"I'm guessing it was you that caused that brawl between all the people there?" he then asked her.
"And not in a good way." he clarified.

"Yeah. Someone decided to touch my unwrapped arm. You think I could stop them?" She asked.
"Touch the mark and you're in for a...well, a mental break. In the most serious of ways of expecting it."

"Almost feel sorry for the poor guy." he said.
"ALMOST." he stressed.
"At any rate, let's go." he told her. "You don't have to stick around here any longer, so we should leave as quickly as possible." he went on.
"Allow them to clean and sterilize the room and all that." he reasoned.
"You thought about what you'd like to eat?" he then asked.
"Almost feel sorry for the poor guy." he said.
"ALMOST." he stressed.
"At any rate, let's go." he told her. "You don't have to stick around here any longer, so we should leave as quickly as possible." he went on.
"Allow them to clean and sterilize the room and all that." he reasoned.
"You thought about what you'd like to eat?" he then asked.
"Yeah, might be a good idea to clear out." Erica agreed after a moment.
"As for food, I could go for some of those waffles from that one place in the north end of the city." She answered after a few seconds.
"You got it, then." Rene replied.
"Let's go get waffles." he told her.
"Whatever you like." he said further.
"Money is no object, feel free to go as extravagant as you like." he went on.
"Hell, have one of everything if you're hungry enough!" he chuckled.

A few hours later, they were arriving back home, and as they made their way in, the first thing that Erica noticed, was how clean it was.
". . . Kalin's here, isn't she?" She asked after a moment.
"Since you never let this place get this clean otherwise." She added with a laug

"Heh." he chuckled, as they left.

"Yeah... rarely. It's usually me picking stuff up." She commented as they heard footsteps.
"Good to see you up and about, Erica." Kalin commented.
"Good to BE up and about." the teen responded with a light laugh.
Rene just sighed.
"Whatever." he said.
"Point is, Erica's home again." he commented.
"Now, then..." he mumbled.
"I think we need to discuss something." he said further.
"The future."
"Whatever." he said.

"What are you thinking for it?" Erica asked as she made her way into the den and sat down on the couch.
"Because I'm curious." she added.
"At least this week was holidays at school." she then said. Kalin just sighed.
Rene crossed his hands over his chest.
"Moving." he told her.
"I really think we should get out of this city." he commented.
"Maybe this state." he said further.
"...maybe the country, too..." he went on.
"Look, I'm saying this city's probably too dangerous for you to live in."

Erica was silkent for a moment.
"Do I get a say in this?" She asked.
"Of course you do." Kalin stated, shooting a look toward Rene.; If he was going to say now, she nipped that in the bud.
Rene was silent for a moment, looking at Kalin, and then towards Erica.
"Well... yeah." he said.
"Tell me." he muttered.
"Where would you prefer to live?" he asked her.
"Any place in specific?"
"Well... yeah." he said.

"I don't have any real preferences, to be fair." Erica then said.
"But it'd be cool to move out of the country, I think." She added.
"Oh? Why?" Kalin asked after a moment.
"Well... I've never been out of the ountry. So... I'd love to see the world." was Erica's answer.
