"Damn it." he cursed.

"What the hell could have done this?" he wondered.

"And those slashes literally just appeared on her. In the blink of an eye." he went on.

"It.. it makes no sense." he muttered.

"...and why did it attack HER and not ME...?" he then wondered further.

"...." he then grew silent, before slumping forward slightly, and letting out a very heavy sigh.

"I have no idea." She admitted.

"I... think the cause is from something not of this world, but I ... I have no idea." She added.

"I wish I did, but I have no idea."

"That... is very true." She agreed with a light sigh.

"I'll .... make it a point to contact hm." She then said before looking toward the window out to the res tof the medwing.

"I ... honestly have no idea what it is that we can expect with this, but I do think she has a good chance of survival."

"......" he was then silent, before shaking his head.

"Well, I'm going to go." he told her.

"I'm going to find a nice quiet place where I can be alone... and have a breakdown."

Angela didn't say anything, just looked Jake from head to toe, made her way to a mini fridge and grabbed something from within and made her way over to him. Once there, she pulled him to his feet and just gave him a hug, allowing her mana to do what she knew it could.

It felt tingly, almost minty, and he could feel himself being abl eot bite back everything better than bnefore.

"This isn't perfect, it won't erase it." She said simply, not releasing him as he returned the embrace.

"But my mana can help you keep it together until you find someone, or somewhere, to take care of yourself." She added. When she did finally pull back, she handing him a bottle of water.

"mana, fae, enchanted. If my mana starts to fade before you're somewhere that you'll be safe, drink some of it. It'll help."

"......." Jake was silent, and nodded again.

"Thank you." he said, accepting the water.

"Thank you so much." he repeated.

He then excused himself so she could get back to work, and left the medical wing. As he walked, he found himself preoccupied in his thoughts... so much so, he didn't notice something, and tripped.

He went face forward, but managed to hold onto the bottle of water, collapsing in a heap.

"Agh!" he let out a grunt, as the wind was almost knocked out of him.

"OW Fuck off and watch where you're bloody well walking!" A familiar voice snapped as he got to a sitting position. It was then that they got a good look at who it was, realising who.

".... oh. All right, not gonna hurt you for it." She then said. "Also... you ok?" She asked as she cocked her head to the side, sitting back on her heels.

"You look like you've got hell on your shoulders. What's up?"

"I'm just... distracted." he told her. "Very much so." he went on.

"And hell on my shoulders? That's... a good way to put it..." he continued.

"Was just looking for a quiet place to have a small mental breakdown." he told her with a small chuckle.

'...though I suppose having a friend there would help." he then admitted.

"But... but before all that... what were you doing down there?" he asked.

"I know you're not the most... gifted... in verticality... but I know I can't just trip over you like that unless you're not standing."

She just sighed before holding a hand, and arm, up a bit.

"Looking for a screw." She told him honestly.

"was adjusting something earlier in the room there," she motioned to the door they were right by, "a screw fell off the table and rolled out here. Trying to find it." She then said with a bit of a heavy sigh.

"I mean, I have more, but they're back in my dorm." She added with a shrug.

"You wanna get a drink? I've got some good booze down in my dorm."

"Firstly, that explains something." he said.

He then reached behind him and grabbed... a screw.

"Landed on this when I fell." he told her, tossing it over.

"Really smarts on the back, too." he muttered with a wry chuckle.

"And your dorm? Booze?" he then asked.

"Lead the way." he told her.

"My current sorrows can use a good drowning."

She caught i tin her gloved hair without any effort before getting to her feet.

"Good to know." she said as she held a hand out to him.

"Come on, let's go. I'll probably drink you under the table again, Jacob." She promised with a smirk.

Jake just smirked as he accepted her hand and got to his feet... an odd sight, seeing as he was practically twice her height.

"We'll see, Izea." he replied.

"We'll just see." he repeated.

With that, the two of them made their way to her dorm, and he stretched a little when the door was shut behind him.

"How've you been?" he asked.

"We haven't spoken in... about a week, is it?"

"9 days, I think." Izea answered as she made her way to where she kept the booze -which was in a mini fridge in the corner of the room.

"You been ok? been awhile since we haven't run into each other." she added after a moment or two as she grabbed a couple bottles of things and made her way back.

"Also, what's your preference. I got a good collection of stuff."

"The hardest-" Jake started to say, before pausing and sighing.

"No." he said.

"I don't need to get back into THOSE habits." he muttered.

"If you have Dragonfire Whisky, that'd be great." he told her.

"And some cola to mix it with." he continued.

"...at least, to start with." he then said.

"We'll see how things develop from there..." he mumbled.

"And... I've been all right... until tonight." he then added, answering her first question.

Izea paused and straightened up, looking to him.

"All right. I'm guessing that's why you look like you need a hard as fuck drink." She commented simply as she kicked the door closed and made her way over, a couple of bottles in her hands. She was small, but quite adept at using her size to her advantage. After setting the bottles down, she headed off to the kitchenette to grab some glasses and mixings, leaving Jake to have a chance to take at look at what was there.

"If you want something else, go check the mini fridge. It's enchanted to be as big as a wine cellar inside." She added with a laugh as she returned to the room.

"I ain't digging through it all though. If you wanna go look, you can. I've been collectin' for years."

"One second we're fine, next second she's saying something seems off, next second after that, she has deep claw slashes from her shoulder to her hip, and she's bleeding profusely." he went on.

He then told her what he did, sent her off and all, and went to the med wing... where he learned she had somehow sustained even MORE injuries.

Worse injuries.

"...so yeah." he finished, having told her what Angela told him.

"I'm a BIT stressed."

"well then. Sounds like you should let Angela know where you are, and that're safe if anything happens, and just find the bottom of th ebottle." She commented.

"Damned if I wouldn't do the same in your position." She added before pausing, thinking.

"... that IS weird though. Isn't Anya a demon?" She asked. "I wonder what it is that happened."
