@xvz: I've never sold my parakeets, I get too attached to them. For breeding, you put a male and female together that seems interested in one another, and then the male will do his business a couple times and then the female will go into a small wooden box you attach to the side of the cage.

After a while she'll lay a clutch of eggs. Pretty much one every other day until there is 5-6 and then she'll incubate them. The male will feed her since she doesn't usually leave the eggs for too long. Then in a couple weeks the the eggs will start to hatch. If they're viable they'll hatch every other day. The first one to come out, will be twice the size of the last one that comes out because they grow SUPER fast.

After they hatch at about the third week their eyes will open and will slowly start growing pin feathers. At that point they're pretty bottom heavy and pin feathery they look like little hedgehogs. Then after about two months they are pretty much fully grown and feathered and usually weaned or in the process of weaning. Meaning mom and dad don't feed them anymore, they feed themselves and can sit on a perch on their own.

This was Crystal's Parakeet Corner. Thank you for reading (lol)

@Crystalkitsune85: That's so cool!!! It's always so interesting to hear about animal breeding and care, especially from someone experienced.

One of the old pictures of a baby parakeet, while their pin feathers are coming in.

Well guys, it looks like we've reached the first page goal and unlocked the second color for the first pose of the item. Now I'm curious to see what it is!

And that's at about 3 weeks too. When they hatch, they're pretty much the size of salad shrimp. And that pink too lol.

if you see a parakeet or any other bird with little spikes on them, that's new feathers growing in. They are coated with a waxy type covering and then they fluff out when the wax is gone. When my birds molt, they get little pins on their head and it makes em look funny lol.

The wax flakes off if you like roll it between your fingers. Usually they get preened by someone else or they rub their heads on something to release the wax. I imagine when feathers come back in, it's itchy as heck too.
