I didn't take my German in high school though
I took it in university

it was the most fun haha

and the other high school had italian

in addition to their usual French, spanish, latin that is

you really don't pronounce like half the words
because all the letters blend into one sound

not that my mandarin reading is great
but different pronunciations for the same words I know fff

definitely has a lot of situational meanings that are around the same feeling
