'I..." Lunet started before just grasping him tighter for about two minutes, after which she finally sat back, letting him go. Her hands just grasped the skirt she had been wearing before, and was put in bed wearing.

"I .. have no idea. " She admitted after a few seconds, her face downward as if she was starting at her hands.

"I ... I just..." She started before shaking her head, shuddering violently.

"I feel like I should be in a grave... but I'll never reach there... and I can't shake it. That chill... I just... I can't, and it's going ot drive me insane, I swear." She then sadi after a few seconds. He could hear in her voice just how much this really was getting to her.

'....why?' Cain thought.

'Why does that phrasing sound so familiar...?' he asked himself.

"...well, while I may not know specifically what you're talking about, I know what it feels to be something akin to that." he told her.

"...but that's... something different... entirely... I guess..." he then mumbled.

"Whatever." he said.

He then just held her, and didn't let go.

"I'll try and do whatever I can to... potentially help."

"Just... just stay with me... ok? Please?" Lunet asked, practically begged. She sounded desperate too, which was... odd.

And rather alarming.

A couple days later, Lunet was on the couch, looking half dead, and just channel surfing. She could barely stay awake, but at the same time, she couldn't sleep. Every time she let her mind rest, she was bombarded with the same things that had tormented her the first night after the fall.

Cain was having a shower, as Lunet had practically shoved him that way when he expressed a desire to in passing, so she was there, alone.

She didn't even hear the key sliding into the lock, like she normally would when sitting (or in this case, laying) there.

The door opened, and it was shut, as the man there sighed and shook his head.

"Ugh." he mumbled.

He then looked around, hearing the shower upstairs, and nodding.

"Guess she's showering." he told himself.

He then stepped further into the home, passing the den and looking inside... seeing Lunet there.

"...Lunet?" he asked.

"What are you doing?" he asked her, noticing how crap she looked.

"...are you all right?"

Lunet wasn't the quickest to react before pausing.

'oh... hey Dad." She said with a soft, tired, smile.

"And yeah... Mostly." She added.

"Just not sleeping well." That wasn't a lie, although it was an understatement, of course.

"Finally get a break from the busyness?" She asked, her tired voice curious.

"......." Hal was silent as Lunet gave her explanation.

"....yeah, I'll say." he said.

"You REALLY look like you haven't been sleeping well." he commented.

"And... well, sort of." he then answered her question with a sigh, sitting down in one of the chairs.

"It's still hectic as all get-out, it's just that I have to take a mandated break and such. Basically, if I want to keep my job, I need to at least act like I'm taking care of my mental health." he summarised.

"...who else is here?" he then asked.

"I heard the shower running upstairs when I came in."

"Cain, of course." Lunet answered, somehow suppressing the yawn almost perfectly.

"What all is going on, anyway?" She asked after a couple of seconds, her voice curious, and a bit concerned.

"I know Cain said something about his mom, but i haven't gotten any more details... to be honest, I haven't really felt like I should ask him. Seems like a sore subject."

Hal just sighed deeply.

"Well, there's a lot of things happening at once." he told her.

"Seems there's an influx of incidents, and my agents are being pulled in all directions." he lamented.

"And Cain's mother?" he then asked, before pausing.

"...well... I suppose you should know." he sighed.

"It seems that Agent Callimachi has been... well... brought back to life. As in, she is a full human. Alive, with a proper pulse, a heartbeat, that sort of thing. She has been... in essence, resurrected from the dead." he continued.

"However... she seems to have NO idea who Cain is." he then lamented.

"No memory of him. At all."

Lunet paused a moment as Hal said what he did.

"I... what?" She asked.

"Is ... is there any chance of recovering her memories?" She then asked, her voice curious, concerned. Even if she'd been rewound so to speak, not that he knew it at this point, it hadn't been that bad for her.

"Because... that... that has to be absolutely horrible..."

"We're doing all we can." he told her.

"But we're making no progress." he lamented.

"I can't even begin to imagine what Cain's going through, though." he then said further.

"I agree, it must be horrible for him." he went on.

"if I were to wager a guess, it's why he's here." he continued.

"He probably can't stand being around her when she doesn't even recognise him."

"That..." Lunet started before just hsaking her head - something she quicckly regret. As she rbought her hands to her head to try and hold everything in place, even Hal could tell.

". . . I would hate to be in his position, to be honest." She said simply.

"It would likely be the death of me."

Lunet paused a moment, thinking about how to answer, before sighing.

"Just... Mama haunting me again." She told him. It wasn't unknown that it happened from time to time, and that yeah, it could get this bad (as it had before, but it was rare), but Lunet wasn't sure abotu it this time. It was too convenient a starting point, but there was no way that falling in there had anything to do with it... right?

"She's haunting you again, huh?" he asked, gently placing his hand on her head.

"Will you be all right, sweetie?" he asked her.

Lunet just smiled soflty, tiredly.

"Yeah. This hasn't beaten me down yet, I don't see why it would do so now." She told him honestly.

I just wish I knew what actually was going on... She thought with a light mental sigh.

"Is there anything I can do to help with everything going on?" She then asked. On one hand, she hoped there was something, but she was too damned tired as well.

"It's ok. I completely get it. I'm not a child anymore, so really, it's ok." She then said with a light chuckle.

"I know that you're a busy man." She added before pausing.

"But... yeah, I guess I'll go try and get some sleep." She said after another couple seconds.

"I just... don't really have the energy to head to bed."
