Forums General Chit-Chat Weighted Blankets?

Donator — Fluffywuff Posted 4 years ago ( 2019/11/12 16:42:41 )
Does anyone have any experience with weighted blankets?
I was told they might help with my anxiety.
I sleep with a literal pile of blankets on me normally, so I can handle the weight. XDD;;
BRING IT

Any thoughts? :3

I have one and it's comforting. I don't know if it helped me with anxiety though. To be fair I've only been able to actually use it recently since it's so hot where I live until like... now. I do like the feel of it though, even if it's a little unruly to move around.

Are ya ready, guyz?!

Ooh one of my cousins has one
The weight is nice, but I also woke up in the middle of the night cuz I was overheating
Tho that might be cuz I'm from NYS and was down in southern Florida at the time
Fits like a glove, so if you move a lot in your sleep, it miiiiight not be a very good idea

Put ya guns awn!

Ahhh, okay. I do squirms a lot in my sleep.
Though, that might be due to the fact that I can't get comfortable, so maybe it would go away?
Hmmm...

I tend to turn a lot in my sleep but it hasn't been a huge issue. If you don't currently kick your covers off you'll probably be fine.

@Priestess of Pie: No way. I envelop myself like a cocoon. XDD;;
I will become a butterfly one day, still waiting on that.

Even my profile says "blanket burrito enthusiast", so you know it's legit. lolol

I wanted to get one but I have a small dog and cat that sleep in my bed and I’m worried I would suffocate them

@Totalanimefan: Wouldn't they avoid it, though? D:
My kitty prefers to sleep on my extra pillow at the head of the bed, so I'm not sure.

@Kozi: they both like to sleep by our legs.

@Totalanimefan: Oh yeah it's probably not good for small animals to sleep under the weighted blanket. Mine don't like to be under the covers. I know I've read some people use a comforter on top of their blankets so maybe your babies can sleep under that instead?

@Priestess of Pie: yeah they are weird. When it’s cold they both like to be under the covers. My dog is the kind of dog that nests. So he will make a little den with the sheets and blankets and then he’s happy.

I have heard good things about them but don't have direct experience to share. If you're already piled high with blankets though, you might be trying to get that feeling on a subconscious level...? It might be worth trying.
