I've been pronouncing ramen wrong

My entire life.
I have been pronouncing it ray-men instead of rah-men.
I've known for a few years that my way is wrong, but when you've been pronouncing somethiing one way for so long its just, i didnt want to change lmao. And i told some folk in a discord chat that i'd continue to pronounce it wrong.

Untilll.
I had a dream last night. That i met this beautiful Japanese woman and we were on a date. And i had ordered some ramen, and pronounced it my way lmfao. And she swatted me over the head with her chopsticks correcting me.

So i'm pronouncing it correctly now, and you can thank the beauty in my dream

I saw a meme yesterday asking why "Sean" is pronounced like "Shawn" when "Dean" is pronounced like "Deen".

@sass pegasus: OMG. I thought I was the only one who pronounced it "Ray-Men." It was just a few years back I found I was mispronouncing it too.

@Lithinel: Lol nope. Most of my family pronounces it that way too. After that dream of being swatted over the head with heavy duty marble chopsticks though, i now pronounce it correctly.

@pessimisticat: Because Sean is the Gaelic way to spell Shawn. In Gaelic sea is a sha sound. And Shawn is Sean anglicized. : P

That's how my family says it too! One time in third grade I got so embarrassed, i corrected my teacher and was like "It's pronounced ray-men" and she hated me from that day forward. She scolded me in class so meanly that I started crying. ;o; EVER SINCE THEN, I PRONOUNCE IT CORRECTLY!
