Well I had a very unpleasant thing happen to me at work yesterday. Customer comes in, super nasty, smells awful, and not wearing a shirt. Just a reflector vest. He's quiet for a while, then I start hearing him swearing. Telling someone to 'shut the fuck up'. Coworker and I looked in that direction concerned. Then he gets louder and swears more aggressively. It escalates to him using the n-word, and slurs, and more swearing. I'm getting very concerned. Enough so that I had to have coworker watch the front while I called the manager.
She tells me to ask him to stop, if he doesn't tell him to leaves, if that doesn't work have someone (donation attendant) escort him out, if he fights then call the police. Also to tell Donation attendant what's going on. Donation attendant and I go up to the guy to ask him to stop. I was not going to do it alone. Guy says sorry and that he didn't know he was being that loud. Promises it won't happen anymore.
I give it a few minutes before I call manager back to let her know everything was alright.

Well that sounds like an interesting experience. I'm glad it didn't escalate further and that everything turned out ok :3

Yeah, I was legit scared of that guy. It turned out he was talking on his phone, but still. That could've easily gone much much worse. And he might be coming back today.

what sucks tho is when customer is destroying products and store equipment

to the extreme too

you wouldnt know until you see the damage

there are just some people who are ultra jerks. Cant help to feel for shop floor people in retail to deal with the mess.

@Bioshock:
@Ava:
He was just on his phone, something about work. Though that's no excuse to be yelling racial slurs. :/ I'm just glad it didn't go any further than that.

@Miss Sandman: I have had several older ladies arguing that 3.99 is too much for a hardback book. One lady threw a hissy fit over the price on one of our kid's books. It was 4.99 and she's like 'I can get this new for the same price at Wal-Mart!', turns out the book was originally like 20$.

Had a lady come in with a dog in a bag, so I asked manager what I should do about it. She told me that I ask if it's a working dog, and if it's not that we don't allow pets in the store. So I asked the woman if her dog was working. Because Goodwill policy. She gets SUPER pissed off about it, angrily has me check her out. Writes down my name to complain about me. Luckily Manager was just in the kids' room. So she complained about me to Manager and shit. Manager explains it's Goodwill's policy to make sure. But none of the other stores asked her, anyway. She left mad planning to complain about us.
After customer leave, Manager did tell me that I did the right thing.

YOUR MANAGER should have been the one to do all of those steps. The fact that they asked you to do it is mind boggling to me.
